The Bulls quit last game. Rose only had 4 shot attempts in the 2nd half. Let's be honest, he could destroy dellevedova anytime he wants to. Really can't single him out because he played well for the most part. The team quit on Thibbs in game 6. Also would just like to remind people that Rose was just coming off a surgery and missed, what, wasn't it like 2 months?

I don't think he could have "destroyed" Dellevedova. Not the way the refs were calling the game. The other thing is that Rose is NOT a ball handler. He is NOT a point guard. He cannot run an offense. I can't remember a Bulls guard(maybe Williams before his injury) who was truly a point guard. And their lack of point guard(s) on this team has hurt them for years.

If he is still alive, I'll take Jerry Sloan:)

I know. I meant it as an aside. But I really loved Jerry Sloan as a player and a coach. I even remember him playing for Evansville(the Purple Aces) back in the ICC. No player ever set tougher screens than Jerry Sloan. His nose proves it:)

If Rose actually could've "destroyed" Dellavadova, that's even worse---That means Rose quit instead of deciding to win the damn game. Now, I don't really believe that, but apparently those of you who think Rose could've turned it up at any point against Dellevadova do.

for all the talk about coaches "developing" players...one McDermott fan out there thinks Hoiberg will be a god send for Dougie as he will know how to properly utilize him

Of course I know of Doug McDermott! Hoiberg being hired by the Bulls would be the best thing to happen to McDermott’s professional career. I recall saying once to a coaching colleague that if every player played like McDermott, college basketball would be infinitely more entertaining. His movement away from the ball and ability to read defenders is lovely to watch. I’m not an avid NBA watcher, so I really cannot comment on why he hasn’t played much for Chicago to this point. I do believe that Hoiberg would find many ways to utilize McDermott. He’s the type of versatile and highly skilled player Hoiberg loves.

In general, Hoiberg has a shooting wing (Naz Long) and more of a slashing wing (Bryce Dejean-Jones) on the floor together. He uses “Pistol” action and dribble handoffs for the slashers. He mainly spaces shooters opposite of high and wing ball screens. McDermott is adept at using pin downs and flare screens. He can read defenders and curl and catch-and-shoot off screens that don’t involve the ball. I see Hoiberg using this skill as a weapon.

The best thing to happen to McDermott’s professional career? I could get used to that. And is there any world where you see “shooting wing” and “slashing wing” and don’t think that Butler and McDermott can fill those roles?

a Butler/Doug tadem is interesting

That's sorta like what Atlanta does with Korver. I'd be down for that.

This paints him as almost another D'Antoni. Lots of offense via 3s, not as great on defense and rebounding. Author is pretty much hoping that Thibs' assistants stay (who knows?) or that the defensive minded players will keep being good anyway. And yet we found that the team under Thibs slipped defensively even this year. Potentially an issue there, but who can really say? Not saying he can't be good, but just a lot of question marks.

Gasol is going to commit suicide in a D'Antoni type system.

yeah defense is not his strong suit but i wouldn't mind keeping Griffin or bringing in another defensive minded assistant coach (guys on realGM say Doug Collins) to help in that regard

but the change in pace (pun fully intended) is welcome for me...yall know i love my offense and 3 pointers

Yeah it would be nice to watch a team who could fill it up for once. Funny thing is, I thought we'd have the best of both worlds this year and we still laid eggs. WE JUST CAN'T WIN

interesting note: Calipari came out and immediately dismissed rumors of him leaving Kentucky so it wouldn't hurt his recruiting....nothing from Hoiberg yet even though hes been hailed as the replacement all year

this bodes well for the bulls

could mean something or nothing
