I have heard the Led Zeppelin references, and the same general rule applies to most bands. The compared songs are similar, but the lyrics are so general, that it's easy to find something to compare it with. However, calling it plagiarism is an understated overstatement.
I have seen this conspiracy theory with U2, the Beatles, Beach Boys, the Eagles, Lynard Skynard, Metalica, Pearl Jam, Black Sabbath, Green Day, the Hollies, the Turtles, Foo Fighters ect ect ect. As long as there are critics, people will spin it around some tree of unoriginality. What can you do? Fault Robert Plant for his voice, tell U2 their signature sound is a knock off? There is a reason why some bands withstand the test of time, they hit on all cylinders, and make something really great. Or you could just call them unoriginal for using guitars, pianos, and microphones, words like baby, love, and loud screams of YEAH!

I like some hip-hop and rap. My only real gripe is how people who love rock first, are more open to adding hip-hop to their collection(speaking about those who are from recent generations), than the other way around. It does bother me a little, but whatever, it doesn't hurt me.

Once a Hip/Hop or Rap song has been out for over a month it is considered old and over played...

...while music Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd released 40 years ago is still some of the most popular and amazing music ever. Not to mention the fact that they actually have instrumental talent and wrote the music rather than "sample" other peoples stuff to create songs.

Thoughts?

I find this most ironic as hell considering it's well known that Led Zeppelin are some pretty big plagiarizing fucks.

The only people who think a hip hop/rap song is old after being out for a few months are the people who just listen to the radio shit and not the real good stuff.

Please leave this thread. Rap on the radio is shit.

Also there is a huge distinction between rap (shit on the radio rapping about rims) and hip-hop.

Rap is soulja boi, when Hip-Hop is stuff like Nas.

Bobby Ray is pretty legit man. Although I will admit his debut album is pretty mainstreamy and not nearly as good as his mixtapes, he's still a damn good artist. One of the more talented hip hop artists out there right now.

haha. Yea, I'm a big fan of 90's hip hop. When I first got into hip hop a few years ago, all I listened to was underground artists. Aesop Rock was the first dude I really got into.
