Get David Wright, trade Byrd for a bag of baseballs, 2 tubs of Dubble Bubble and 3 cases of David Sunflower seeds.

I like the idea of going after Wright, but:
1. There is no guarantee the Mets will trade him.

2. Wright is going to command some talent coming back for him, and the guys that the Mets will want are the same ones we want to be playing in Wrigley a long time.

Very true. It's more of a pipe dream than anything. Lol

With Cubs position it not be smart to deal young players for Wright. Now if they go get Fielder, Wilson then trade young players for Wright im all for it :p

If you were the Mets would you deal Wright to the Cubs if Brett Jackson wasn't involved in a deal? I can't say that I would.

From a baseball perspective, not at all. Financially though, it might be a move they'll have to make to ease the situation. I don't know the full details of their money problems, but it doesn't look too bright for their future at the moment.

Yeah but the Mets have a lot of money coming off the books with Beltran and K-Rod's deals expiring. I am just not entirely certain that the Mets will have to dump Wright. Now if they resign Reyes to a Carl Crawford type deal then the need to move Wright becomes a lot higher.

I'm hearing that Reyes is their #1 priority. He's their so-called "franchise guy" if you can build a franchise with their problems.

That being said, I don't see Wright being a Met next year. Not saying he's coming to the Cubs but I could see it. The Rockies look like they're going to make a play for Wright which would be a solid 3B/SS tandem of Tulowitzki and Wright.

I could certainly see the Mets dealing Wright, but I am just quibbling with the idea that the Mets are going to have to take less than top dollar back in a deal.

Your right. Hendry is the only person that is dumb enough to give Aramis a lot of money. And no team is going to offer Aramis Ramirez some serious coin next year with this group of available 3B in free agency:
Wilson Betemit KC
Casey Blake LAD *
Eric Chavez NYY
Mark DeRosa SF
Greg Dobbs PHI
Edwin Encarnacion TOR *
Wes Helms FLA
Melvin Mora ARI
Aramis Ramirez CHC
Miguel Tejada SF
Omar Vizquel CWS

That is why if they want to try and say they are competiting A-ram will have to be resigned. Again either spend them money to win with A-Ram, Fielder or just go young. Dont bring in any of these old bad vets and try to sell to cub fans that they are competiting

Not mad, just tired of stupid comments. Ramirez isn't the greatest player of all-time or a hall of famer, but he is a well above average offensive player. And losing him at this point with no legitimate internal options and no better free agents to replace him would be a step back.
