IMDB [/FONT]Top Ten Film Noir Movies - Hard-Boiled Fiction lists Double Indemnity #1.

Understandable.

Long story short, film noir is a style which can encompass various genres. And I generally prefer the ones that aren't mysteries. I'd rather just take the pure thrills/suspense.

What are your feelings on Melville's films?

The Meg

Easy film to watch and decent actors, but really stupid and unrealistic. A remake of Deep Blue Sea basically. Deep Blue Sea being way better.

Green book - 9/10
Damn good acting by Viggo. He looks so natural in all of his roles.

The Favourite comes here on the 5th
Roma on the 6th
Schlinder's List in DOLBY on the 7th
and a special advanced screening of Bumblebee on the 8th.

Am I brave enough to take on this gauntlet?

Is "advanced screening" the whole film or a trailer?

List is a good film, but is it really a treat to pay theatre prices to see it again with dolby sound? Not that I'd never see it a second time, but it's kind of a grueling experience as opposed to a fun 'bigscreen' film like 'the right stuff' or something.

It's the whole film, and Schlinder's List is "free" because I have the AMC A-list thing. It's certainly not normal Christmas fare but I don't mind. It looks like it'd be a beautiful movie to see on the big screen, especially a DOLBY sized one.

Besides, same as with A Space Odyssey earlier this year, when's the next time I'll get this opportunity...25 years from now for the 50th anniversary?

Hate that I missed the same opportunity for Jurassic Park earlier this year. Which is something to think about, Speilberg made both Jurassic Park and Schlinder's List in the same year...

NIce perk for membership. Interesting, after 25 months of prepreduction, filming on Jurassic was Aug through Nov 1992. S. List filming began March 93. The first released June 93, the latter Nov 30, 93. So basically, List is a Christmas film.

So that goofy looking black spiderman movie is getting rave reviews. I wish I had known it would be supposedly good. There's an early screening here on the 1st, but it's sold out now.

I liked Widows better than The Girl in the Spider's Web

What was your take in terms of the story-line, plot etc.? What do think could've made it better? What do you think about the "believability factor"?

I think it wasn't marketed properly, at least in my eyes. Based on the trailer, I was expecting it to be more "thrilling" I guess. I wasn't expecting it to be as slow. I didn't think the characters, except for maybe the tall girl(can't remember her name) were fleshed out that well. We're supposed to sympathize with Viola Davis character because she'd have to give everything up in order to pay off her "debt" but at the end of the day, she only had those things because of her husbands criminal activity. I felt nothing for her and thought her character was dull.

As for believable factory, I didn't really have an issue with that aspect. I didn't see, or at least remember, anything outrageous happening that I thought to myself "there's no way in hell that would happen in real life." I didn't see The Girl in the Spider's Web so I can't compare the two. Based off what I've heard and read about that movie, I'd like Widows more. I didn't think Widows was bad, it just didn't come close to living up to the hype that critics put upon it.

To put it simply, if it wasn't marketed as such, no one would call Widows a heist movie. It was more of a social drama than a thriller.

I saw Ralph Breaks the Internet while I was on vacation. It was a good movie. I personally liked it more than the first.

And I just have to say, after seeing all this potential oscar buzz and that the national board of review named it one of the best movies of 2018, I have to say that Black Panther may be the most overrated movie in my lifetime. As least that I can remember. I thought the movie was good...i even bought it on 4K...but people really need to stop with this best movie of the year shit

Agree on Black Panther.... all that hype and by the time I saw it I was expecting something incredible.

Then I watched a decent Marvel movie that had a rather bland main protagonist.

A good story told in a bad way. The structure of the plot and order of the scenes was odd.

Same here. I was expecting a lot more. The 'NPR crowd' went creepily overboard on praising the film. It wasn't even one of the better Marvel films. The problems were directoral and story based. I also didn't like a 'plant gas' that gives Panther his powers.

Hmm... it's hard to say for me. I think they were trying to do too many things. The story of the son left behind in America, and urban decay in the US and the exploiting of the 3rd world or Africa in particular -- and what a new leader with the Wakandian power could do to change things would have been a great story to concentrate on; but this film was all over the place and much too unfocused. It's tough with an origin film to go the direction I'm suggesting, but they tried to wedge it in there almost like a sidestory, which is just crazy thing to do, that concept takes fierce commitment.
