Rondo's game was not based on his athleticism. its easier for a guy that is more of a floor general/pass first to bounce back from a knee injury than guy thats whole game is based his athletic gifts

Thing is we have seen much of the same kind of athleticism from Rose even after he has come back from the third knee injury. We can't just ignore the eye injury when discussing his poor shooting percentage this season. It's obvious that he's been much less aggressive and much less assertive too (right or wrong). Can't just simply write him off as done. Overpaid? Yeah. Not the greatest attitude? Yeah. Not worth keeping long term? Quite possibly. But done being great is not certain by a long shot.

other than end to end speed i don't think we have seen the same athleticism from him. his lateral quickness is poor and he hasn't really shown that same explosive lift he once had had.

i seen him go up for a layup and be rejected by the rim lol and hell he hasn't even dunked since last year. not sure hes got that explosiveness on demand anymore. that or hes scared to use it which is no good either way

Westbrook has had just as many injuries as Rose. He just came back faster and did not have the Major knee injury like Rose. I still think Rose taking as much time off as he has is what has hurt him. Not sure you can be a great basketball player if you view jumping as a business decision.

Westbrook never tore his ACL. Also, Westbrook is on another level mentally/toughness than rose. It's not even close.

I don't think Rose can be great again. The best you can realistically hope for is good. I can't see him being an all star again. Sad but true. I said that last year though and was criticized for saying it by a Rose apologist that shall remain nameless.

Yep. Not to mention most everyone who played with rondo say he has the highest bball IQ out of anyone they've ever been around. Rose doesn't even have the highest bball IQ in the starting lineup.

As all of that offseason went out of the window with an orbital fracture within the first hour of practice. As a result, Rose could not even MOVE for a whole month to prevent blood elevation. The swelling was not fake. It is just now going down. The eyeball was slightly displaced because of the swelling, causing double vision. A shooter needs depth perception. Truth is Rose is finally playing hurt b/c he knew he has lost the benefit of the doubt with everyone. Everyone is tired of waiting for him, but the injury is real. Right now, Rose is just trying to prove he can string games together to the point he is playing even when he probably shouldn't. Forget 2011, even last years form would make the Bulls dangerous.

So your stance is his play is because of the eye. Ok. Question: how long will you hold onto that belief if rose doesn't turn it around? All star break? End of the year? Playoffs? Next year? Never?

And I disagree that last years version of rose will be good enough to win a title. We would need him to be playing at an all-star level at minimum.

I am starting to have my doubts that he will all things considered. But I won't say he can't. I think most of it is mental and that is possible to recover from.

I think that he could be a star again if he really dedicated himself to it and it has all to do with shooting. He should be a better shot assuming that his vision is okay. If it isn't then of course it is a huge factor why he can't shoot. Either way it is too early to write the guy off.

I both of those in my post without being so blunt.

How would you know that if Westbrook never tore his ACL?
Westbrook has had his meniscus torn and his face broken. The only thing Westbrook hasn't done is torn his ACL. Otherwise He's had the same injuries as Rose and has come back looking better from each of them.

So is the argument now that Rose is too stupid to be good at basketball? Because that wasn't the case when he was MVP

You guys are just digging a deeper and deeper hole for yourselves when he turns it on in the playoffs

What do we do to you in the event you're wrong and Rose plays like utter shit in the playoffs?

Has a player ever been one of the worst players in the regular season only to magically flip a switch and start to dominate in the playoffs? Is there such a precedent? Why would anyone believe this? It's an absurd belief.

Kobe's trying. But Kobe also is 37 years old.

Novak has to be trolling.

Once the playoffs roll around, Derrick will suddenly start to give a shit (yay), improve his ts% from 2nd to last out of all PGs to something resembling a relevant player, and play like a star on command on the biggest stage, when he could barely make layups now. I can't wait.
