What else has been said about Rose since the ACL tear?

Lots of stuff but I don't think anyone ever imagined he would be this much of a non factor, tinkering on a negative. He still has a negative WS but it's gone up from -0.2 to -0.1

Chicago has no choice. Unless they bench him. What was said on espn? Pretty much the same thing we say on here?

Basically the same thing. He's bad. His usage is high, his efficiency is super low, they take away from Butler trying to get Rose involved sometimes, they act like he's still a superstar and he's not, and they don't see him making a comeback. They mentioned the fan base getting irritated and that it can't continue, but gave no alternative

That's the thing. The Bulls are handcuffed and have been since he went down with injury. The only thing they could do is bench him and/or limit his minutes and tbh, that would be best for the team. Fred has Rose, Kirk, Moore, and Brooks at the PG spot. Obviously, a sub par group but they're each capable on any given night. I would consider using a PG by committee approach and play the hot hand and matchups. Whoever has the hot hand and is positively impacting the game will play. Guarantee nothing to any of them, especially Rose. If Rose doesn't like it, tell him to play better and it won't be an issue. If he's going to continue to play like the worst starting PG in the league, then he's going to get treated accordingly. We're over 20 games into the season already.

Dear Derrick,

Can we please have our $$$ back?.

Yours truly,

Jerry

All kidding aside, when you look at return on investment he qualifies as the biggest bust in Bulls history.

If only we would've had the foresight to cut him when he won MVP instead of paying him that contract!

Yeah, that would have been nice. I mean, obviously the Bulls did the right thing by signing him lol.....but if you do look at what's transpired since then, it has to be considered the worst return on a mega, mega investment in Bulls history. Possibly ever. It's up there.

Oh definitely. At the same time though, I can't blame Rose for losing 2.5 seasons to injury. Rose might've taken the longest to come back from an ACL tear, but he's far from the only player to miss an entire season for that reason. Meniscus tear...again not the only player to miss time for that. Meniscus again, sucks, but what can you do? And with the exception of probably right now, his poor play could at least be explained by one reason or another.

All that to say is that, yes it's been an absolutely awful return, but arguably only like maybe 30% you can say is legitimately Rose's fault (this season so far, missing the playoffs in 2012, and I guess all of last year's inefficiency). The rest is just ridiculously awful awful awful luck. But that's life.

For the old heads, the closest comparable in terms of impact is Bill Walton and Portland.

It just irks me a little that everyone treats it like it's 100% his fault. It's not the case. This season is a different story though.

If Rose would have tried playing before he felt ready, fans would have just turned on him earlier. And he knew this. Now you want him to stop trying to maintain confidence because everyone else had. Losing minutes to Arron and Kirk will solve Nothing. Does anyone really feel if he was uninjured and had a full camp that he would be playing like this? He is not even playing at the same level of last year yet. Have some patience. The Bulls are currently 2nd in the East. Truth is the Bull need Rose period.

While that's certainly true if we have any possible shot at a championship, that doesn't mean Rose is going to magically be good again. Bulls fans have been patient with Derrick for about 5 years now.

He had a full off-season to train and while he missed most of camp and all but 1 pre-season game, I would hardly call this a rust or conditioning issue. Those things could mildly be aided by a full camp but his troubles stem from effort and efficiency. He can't finish inside anymore and his jump shot is as broke as ever. Beyond the numbers though, it's just plain as day that the guy checked out a while ago. He just doesn't give a shit anymore and it shows. Being 2nd in the East has no correlation or cause for optimism that Rose will "snap out of it." We're 2nd in the East despite of Rose, not because of him. I guess we'll see what happens.

it'll probably go the same way it always goes: Derrick will show some small progress then get hurt again which will repeat the process of "he working on getting his conditioning back" for months till he gets hurt again starting it over again

its the definition of insanity

As all of that offseason went out of the window with an orbital fracture within the first hour of practice. As a result, Rose could not even MOVE for a whole month to prevent blood elevation. The swelling was not fake. It is just now going down. The eyeball was slightly displaced because of the swelling, causing double vision. A shooter needs depth perception. Truth is Rose is finally playing hurt b/c he knew he has lost the benefit of the doubt with everyone. Everyone is tired of waiting for him, but the injury is real. Right now, Rose is just trying to prove he can string games together to the point he is playing even when he probably shouldn't. Forget 2011, even last years form would make the Bulls dangerous.

Sorry but I'm going to go against popular opinion and say Rose can be great again. Everybody last year gave up on Rondo. Now he's leading the league in assists again and is looking as good as he ever has.

A lot of people thought his injuries would force him into retirement. And now he's back and has been a starter on the 2-seed team in the East. He has been inefficient as a scorer but has been helpful to this team's modest success so far this season.

Sad to see his decline in production. Hopefully, he figures out the problem, corrects it and gets back to being the D. Rose of his early career, pre injury. When does he lose his shoe deal? Surely, they're looking into replacing D. Rose with someone who can actually play basketball at a high level?

Rondo's game was not based on his athleticism. its easier for a guy that is more of a floor general/pass first to bounce back from a knee injury than guy thats whole game is based his athletic gifts
