The Padres aren't giving up a top 50 prospect for a 5th starter and crappy reliever.

I would think it would cost Garza, but I would expect the Cubs to fleece a pitching prospect or 2 out of the deal.

And LOL at the Padres having no leverage on their top prospect.

CO logic son. He thinks everyone will just bow down & give the farm away because they're on the Cubs.

I had had in mind Sean Marshall for Rizzo+. Now that Marshall isn't on the team, I think we could see Wells+ go for Rizzo+. Rizzo's value dropped, but so has Randy Wells' now that he has hit arby. A lot of it depends on Wells' estimated cost in arby. The Pads could want him to boost his numbers in Petco, then trade him to another team. If we did get Rizzo for Wells straight up, I'd be surprised. I could see James Russell & Wells go for Rizzo and a pitching prospect.

bold: im sure that is what the padres are thinking

what fantasy world are you in?

WUT?

The Padres are going to trade a top prospect for a declining SP and shitty LHRP?

You can't believe this idiotic shit you type.

What do you guys honestly think Rizzo is worth? Byrnes has no leverage now that they have Alonso. Rizzo isn't going to net them that much. Wells & Russell are guys that Byrnes should target, they are cheap and in Petco their numbers would be really really good. That's what the Padres are kind of known for, trading pitchers whose numbers look good... when in reality they aren't that good.

But I'm still curious as to what you guys think it would cost to get Rizzo. Keep in mind that he is blocked big time & the Pads have NO leverage.
He absolutely is not. Yonder could be shuffled out to LF if absolutely needed. Perfect solution? No. But If Rizzo explodes and they like Yonder they move Yonder to LF to get his bat in the lineup and watch Rizzo hit and have his value go up. LOL at you think the Padres controlling two of the top 1B prospects in the MLB = holding no leverage. Yonder would be awful as an OF but people have lived with worse OF'ers before to get bats in the lineup.

You thinking that Randy Wells and James fuckign Russel are enough to get Anthony Rizzo from a GM with a clue shows your complete lack of baseball acumen.

2.19 ERA, 1.07 WHIP as a reliever. He was pretty awesome last year in relief. But yeah, he's shitty.

  1. Minnesota United FC
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
But Marshall was a good offer? I said that no leverage was an exaggeration. Can you read or do I need to write it in symbols for you?

Based off of what?
I said Garza was a good offer. Can you read or can you quit posting?

Russell still needs to develop in order for a team to want him, especially for a top 50 prospect in Rizzo.

That's in a fairly small sample size even though he's been around for chunks of two seasons. As a league-minimum guy he's pretty useful, but I don't think a lot of teams are going to pay through the nose for him

I love how a small sample size is used to defend Aramis Ramirez, yet James bleeping Russell gets the benefits of a small sample size.

It can't go both ways.

The difference is that Aramis Ramirez has shown over a very large sample size that he is a good player (although he's a bad defender). A relief pitcher doesn't pitch all that many innings over a season and is thus more "volatile" in comparison.

You liking him at all since you are wrong about virtually everything.

That's a great argument. Nice to see we can have a baseball conversation.

Excuse me for confusing you with someone at PSD. I'm sorry that I'm not perfect. Ban me.

Russell for King Felix is an even deal, amirite CO? Fits your dumb logic.

Do you ever post anything with any thought behind it?

Yes, it is a small sample size, but he'd be playing in Petco... it's not like Petco is a hitters park by any means. They could build up Russell's stock so much in SD and trade him, he's the kind of player that would absolutely shine there.

As for all of you hating on me, good for you. I don't give a ****, but why don't you prove me wrong with your abundance of baseball knowledge. I triple dog dare ya!

We can look at Russell's MLB stats and minor leagues stats together:

James Russell Statistics and History - Baseball-Reference.com

James Russell Minor League Statistics & History - Baseball-Reference.com

They're actually pretty similar. That's six seasons worth of data you can look at. He doesn't walk a lot of people, has decent strikeout numbers, and gives up a buttload of home runs. But I'm going to wager that Russell isn't on Josh Byrnes' radar as a must-have, and I don't think Theo and Jed think that their former co-worker is that stupid.
