is Zach Lee that much of a better prospect than Delgado?

Seen a lot of Braves fans hoping Dempster turns this down
Amongst the experts Lee is viewed as a better prospect. He has a higher ceiling, but he is younger and farther away which means greater range in outcomes than Delgado who was seen as safer.

And Delgado is a great haul for Dempster. That is why many of us are so pissed about Dempster balking at going.

I know prior to the 2012 Season, Delgado was rated ahead of Lee in terms of prospect value...anyone know if that's still the case?

It is not. Delgado's stock has fallen a fair bit with Goldstein saying his performance dropped him out of the top 50.

Zach Lee is probably unrealistic if Demp wants to go to LA:

The Brewers' ideal scenario is to trade third baseman Aramis Ramirez to the Dodgers in exchange for pitching prospect Zach Lee and then deal Greinke to the Rangers for third base prospect Mike Olt, reports Jim Bowden of SiriusXM ESPN radio (via Twitter). Bowden adds that such a sequence of moves is unlikely, however.

This is why the Cubs are getting screwed there is no that LA has that is close to Randall Delgado besides Zach Lee. They are taking a huge step down since the Dodgers weren't going to part with Lee when the Cubs did have leverage. Maybe a surprise can happen or maybe Dempster really is just waiting for the Cubs to try one more time with LAD before accepting to go to Atlanta, but I am really down from where I was 28 hours ago.

That is also unlikely to happen so I guess maybe the Cubs still have a chance :D

Morosi is reporting that a source has said there is a way for the Dodgers to get Dempster without Lee. And so it begins us going from getting Randall Delgado to Garrett fucking Gould.

Considering that 1. it's Dempster's choice; 2. we didn't really expect a Delgado, but somewhere around Gould is about right for straight-up trade value; I just can't get too mad about it. The offer's still on the table and it's still possible that Dempster goes to ATL, so we'll find out tomorrow. I doubt either the Braves or the Dodgers want to see Dempster pitch one more time and not for THEM, so this might be another game of chicken.

Dempster can go to hell and he better not want to come back next year!! I'm still hoping for the ATL deal, tho.

The fact that we weren't expecting to get a Delgado doesn't soften the blow of losing a Delgado. I am hoping for the best, but it is hard not to be upset that the team got screwed whether it was his right or not.

They are the breaks, and it isn't over yet. But as I said as much as I understand why it is happening doesn't change how much it sucks.

Of course it sucks. But since there's nothing we can do about it, no use crying over milk that has yet to be spilled.

Yes, we didn't expect Delgado, but we all know that the Cubs pretty much had him, so yes, it's a disappointment for me

What trade?

:cubstroll:

MLBTR:

6:55pm: It's possible that the Dodgers could acquire Dempster from the Cubs without having to surrender Lee, a source tells Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com (Twitter link).

5:34pm: The Dodgers are holding out on including pitching prospect Zach Lee in a potential Dempster trade, sources tell Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com (Twitter link).

4:20pm: The Cubs are talking to the Dodgers about Dempster again, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports.

3:26pm: Dempster told reporters, including Doug Padilla of ESPNChicago.com, that he's taking his time to weigh his options (Twitter link). He plans to pitch for the Cubs tomorrow. "I have a pretty good idea of where I want to go," Dempster said, according to Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune (on Twitter).

1:37pm: The status of the possible Braves-Cubs deal should be resolved "shortly," ESPN.com's Jayson Stark reports (on Twitter). The Cubs continue talking to the Braves and the Dodgers.
