I knew there was a reason I called him Dumpster. If he vetoes this trade he'll get booed when he returns

"@jonmorosi: Source: #Cubs have asked #Dodgers for Allen Webster as primary piece in Ryan Dempster talks."

Delgado had a K/9 that was better than Webster's in the minors, and at a younger age too. So it might be a downgrade, but maybe not. Webster doesn't seem to like giving up homers.

Delgado struck out more and walked about the same number of guys than Webster has. Delgado had better success at AA, than Webster has. Webster is much less HR prone than Delgado. Appears to have more upside, but Delgado is ready now... whereas Webster is still at least a couple of years away. Also, with the failure rate of sinker-pitchers the team has had recently (Coleman, Volstad, McNutt to name 3) I don't know if I'd trust this system to coach Webster to improving his stuff.

Think I'd still prefer Delgado, but I wouldn't whine about getting Webster. Plus, the Dodgers traded Eovaldi to Miami... so I wonder if they'd be willing to trade anymore pitching prospects without getting a better prize than Dempster.

Webster plus isn't a terrible haul and certainly better than Garrett Gould, but this is a huge step down from Delgado in return. Webster for what it is worth converted to pitching full time when he was drafted. So that needs to be kept in mind. He was a fringe top 100 guy at the beginning of the season.

Is the Atlanta/Delgado deal definitely dead? ...or still just on hold?

IMO, I would say the Braves get desperate soon and increase their offer for Demp. Reasoning? Johnson won't be traded within the division, and Grienke is the most highly coveted pitcher on the market, so they most likely wouldn't be able to swing a deal for him. We'll see I guess.

The holdup is Dempster being willing to go Atlanta. I am hopeful that he changes his mind, but Dempster seems pretty damn set on going to LA. They certainly have some things that would interest the Brewers like Teheran or the aforementioned Delgado, and that is my worry. While Dempster is waiting around for LA to actually offer something of value for him, the Braves will put together a package for Greinke and pull their deal.

Also just for those that are curious based on my reading on how experts view the 3 prospects that have been talked about:
Ceiling:
Zach Lee
Allen Webster
Randall Delgado

Floor:
Randall Delgado
Zach Lee
Allen Webster

I could be off on this, but that seems to be the consenus of what I've read about the 3 pitchers that have been tossed around. Gould probably would come in at the bottom of each of those lists.
