Again whether it is fair or not, if Dempster finishes the year on the Cubs his legacy is costing this team Randall Delgado.

Buster Olney:
The Dodgers are feelingly increasingly confident they can work out a deal for Dempster, because CHC don't have many alternatives. We'll see.
Read that quote over and over again and tell me that Dempster hasn't screwed the Cubs.

And I am pretty confident in saying that the Dodgers making the deal they did for Hanley Ramirez given up their starting pitcher for the Friday game against SFG is because they know they are in the driver seat to get Dempster.

Especially if Dempster pitches today and they lose one more start. But the Cubs don't have to trade Dempster, which would seriously piss off tons of fans :D

Dempster has not screwed the Cubs :cubstroll:

I blame Hendry...Dempster never deserved a No trade clause(and that ridiculous contract) in the 1st place.

Hendry was a terrible GM, but I give him props for getting the Cubs to the playoffs in '07 and '08, he gave the organization two opportunities to make a deep playoff push and the team blew it, he went all in and got himself and the team screwed, but I think Theo is doing good things for you guys over there, hell, look at the second half your having!

I'm always a glass half full kind of guy, but I guess an experienced Cubs fan like yourself must have evolved through natural selection to a glass half empty

As of now, Cubs' plan is to keep Dempster and make qualifying offer to get a draft pick -- unless offers improve. Not close to LAD deal yet.

There's reasons to be optimistic (i.e. 2008) but this season is definitely not one of them. Not a loss of faith or anything, just reality. A team 16 games under .500 with 66 games to go and who is 16.5 back of first and has to leapfrog nearly the entire National League to sniff a wild card is not realistically going to get anywhere
