I'm curious if we get any resolution by Friday. It seems like in the interview Dempster is implying that he is going to spend his offday weighing his options. I just want this to be over because I'm tired of being irrationally angry about this.

The Dodgers are probably looking at Garza or Greinke now that the Brewers have gone to sell mode.

It sucks that the leak happened and I understand why lots of fans are angry and disappointed. I just don't really feel any need to take it out on Dempster. Maybe he really did need more time to think about it, maybe he totally wasted everyone's time in setting up this trade. I don't know. I'd rather blame the Atlanta side for leaking this before he had time to think about it once it became more concrete.

RC I understand where you're coming from, but the fact of the matter is that Dempster knew he was going to get traded. Dempster said he would go if it helped the club. And Dempster is now saying he wants to pitch in LA not in Atlanta. Where we hadhe better offer to help the team. He has to do what's best for his family? He'll be there for 2 months then can leave it's bullshit that he thinks playing the family card is gonna ease the crap he did.

I think it is probably in Dempster's best interest to not pitch in Chicago again, especially for the Cubs.

No Rice is right that there really is no point in getting mad over something that is out of my control, but the rebuild has taken some huge hits. (theoism) pulled a rabbit out of their hat this week. I am hoping for several more.

I think after he gets booed for the next few months, he'll likely decline the qualifying offer and sign with the White Sox :cubstroll:

Wouldn't be shocked to see Dempster go to the south side on free agency deal to be honest, but it is going to be ugly if he takes the mound on the 31st in Chicago.

Is that his next start? I think that might be a night game. Oh cool, it's on WGN! I can't wait

There's still time but if the Dodgers had originally lowballed the Cubs and won't do much to improve their offer, and the Braves stupidly leaked shit before Dempster had a chance to approve or deny it behind closed doors, then I fear we're stuck with him until this offseason. My backup plan is to hope he doesn't suck but I know he's due for some regression.

Even if he has a few rough outings his numbers will still be decent on the whole year. I really don't think him doing well or poorly really effects how likely he is to get another offer. Garza is scheduled to pitch on Monday as is, and so Dempster's turn would be Tuesday. Granted Garza might not be able to go, but apparently the pushing back was due to the birth of his kid more than injury.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. North Carolina Tar Heels
This is just getting ridiculous.

If you live in Chicago can you please boo Dempster for me next time he pitches.

I have stopped being mad and I am more embarrassed for him and how he handled this and tarnished his reputation.

It does no good to boo because there's nothing you can do about it anyway, but it's the fans' right to do so. At this point you hope that he's traded by Tuesday or if not, that he pitches awesome for the remainder of the season so some other team takes him on and the Cubs get a draft pick. That's our consolation prize, like it or not.

Yeah...the part that frustrates me the most is that he has said in the past he'll do what he can to help the team....and now he's sort of doing the opposite. It's his right to turn down trades -- but don't contradict yourself.
