Right, so what has he done that would give you confidence he's a good QB evaluator?
I’m not saying he is or isn’t. He’s had a hof qb for the majority of his coaching career.

I know.

What I was responding to was a post saying we should trust his eval of Fields, and I said what has he done to make you think so? I think that poster was just messing around btw.

Not sure what happened in the org, but they probably also stuck with Ben a couple years too long.

Parkins...

How did this guy get his job? Serious question.

He looks like steve buscemi but with zero talent. His voice isn't radio worthy. Did his father/mother **** someone important?

So let me get this straight…one of the best head coaches currently in the game is a big fan of Justin Fields, but many here are ready to move on from JF1 for a rookie QB?

Something isn’t mathing correctly here

The question to ask one of the best head coaches currently in the game is who he would choose if he could pick between Justin Fields and any QB coming out of the draft.

Then the maths might add up better.

Yeah i don’t know either but he seems to move on fairly quick if he’s not getting production from the quarterback. I know he’s a defensive guy, and have no idea how much input he wants to have on the offensive side.

Well, since he's been there they've drafted:
Dennis Dixon
Landry Jones
Josh Dobbs
Mason Rudolph
Kenny Pickett
and some guy I've never heard of

And acquired:
Mitch Trubisky

Not sure that is a very good record in that department.
Wow, the Steelers are becoming the Chicago Bears of QBs.

heres what you said. i didnt agree with it, and i read further where you hit the panic button saying "mike tomlin wasnt the GM". this was probably because you forgot he didn't draft big ben, an honest mistake. but you doubled down saying he wasnt the GM, thus changing your point. so i said it was a bad point, and now you're having a break down. not sure how im misrepresenting this situation. sorry i thought your opinion on this particular thing was bad, my MISTAKE!
Thinking someone is good in one's mind and that one person not making the free agency nor draft decisions because they are not the GM are two separate things.

Let's take a situation that is not Pittsburg.

McDaniel in Miami was glowing about Fields after Fields torched the Dolphins two years ago.

McDaniel is not the GM of the Dolphins so he cannot make the decision to trade for Fields, though he can influence the decision maker by telling him that he, McDaniel, loves speed on the offensive side of the ball and has a QB who is one hit away from retiring due to concussions. In the end, it is the GM who 'buys the groceries', not McDaniel.

thanks for explaining that for me man i was very confused on the difference between a head coach and a GM in regards to player transactions

Steelers are just about as bad as the Bears at developing QB talent, and I think they might be even worse at identifying it (Kenny Pickett is nothing more than Tyson Bagent with a slightly better looking mullet, and he is their starter again, at least for now) . . .

Yes the organization with 2 HOF QB’s. One is Terry Bradshaw while the other is Big Ben
