SO he officially never went to Toronto, it was the dude from Shark Tank. SO who knows where he is now. But the fact that it is very quiet in Chicago about this lends me to believe that Jed is keeping things very quiet and in house to avoid upsetting Ohtani.

This is really not true. IF you're a fan of the team it is your money that Ricketts is spending.
And teams do have budgets because of luxury tax, which can drastically hurt the farm system.

So the Cubs had no chance, he wanted the Dodgers all along. The deal is massively deferred and so it won't effect the luxury tax. Any team could have done this contract, SHohei just wanted the better team on paper and not to have to move.

I'm just glad that Jed and Tom were involved with a contract of this magnitude. It shows that they're willing to spend money to make this team better.
