Soriano is batting a little over .300 against Grienke in his career. But Quade gives him the day off tonight.

Alright explain this to me. Soriano has a batting average a little over .300 versus Grienke in his career and he gets a day off tonight. Pena is batting under .200 versus Grienke in 34 at bats and he gets the start tonight. Good call Quade!

Because despite my deepest desires, Soriano does not play 1B, and sample sizes against individual pitchers doesn't tell you crap.

I know but when Pena is really struggling give him the night off when he can't hit Grienke at all.

Soriano went 1-4 with an RBI in today's game versus the Brewers.

Soriano has two homers the past two days. Will the streak continue tonight?

It is certainly possible. Soriano has always been a streaky hitter. The thing that has been concerning though as that the good power games don't seem to come with any average. I mean he was hitting .260 or so with the huge power numbers in April. Hopefully he hits up a little here because any hope of moving him depends on him doing well (yes I realize the odds are virtually none that he will be dealt).

Soriano's contract is a concern. He won't live up to it either way. I'm not concerned about the power dropping as much as I am concerned with him still being here for 3 more years while his power is dropping.

If anyone cares about stats, Soriano is 9-37 against Maholm in his career with 4homers.

i agree with dabs..soriano is really streaky....although at this point he definitely isnt worth his contract because he is not a great defender to begin with(except his range factor:rolleyes:) his athleticism has declined with age...he can still hit for power tho i guess...but again, its streaky..one period of say like 2 weeks he'll hit maybe like 6 or 7 homers and have maybe 15 RBI and the next 2 weeks he'll be a lot more down..heck even in smaller intervals..he's really up and down..

but even when he is on a good streak, he isnt worth his contract

Soriano seems to have 2-3 hot streaks a year. Rest of year he just bad. Not worth 18 mil but when they did get him he was. Theres always a risk when u sign someone to that deal

From reports i have heard he might not make it 3 years. Could just be released. I think .260 with 25 HR more likely. He still goes through his hot weeks where he hits 4-6 HR. His HR add up fast then he goes into month slump then picks up more HR in week.

Yea it's possible he doesn't go another three years. But I'm pretty sure we can agree on that all Cubs fans loved the signing of Soriano at the time. He was one of the best players in the league. He just didn't turn out as planned.

Agee 100% that all cub fans happy about deal. We all knew the last 3 years could be rough. No one expected him to hurt his leg in first year and lose all his speed so fast.

Yea I mean maybe the 8 year contract wasn't the smartest idea but that's probably what it took to get him. I believe he still led the team in home runs in 07 and maybe 08?

i would have to look it up. He was big part of those teams. I just hope cause he didnt pan out that Ricketts doesnt sign another superstar to big contract. I think Fielder would be perfect for 8 year deal
