Also I am going to go out on a limb and say the Cubs deserve two All-Star's. I know I will be called a homer but....

Obviously Castro deserves it like everyone has said.

Also I think Sean Marshall deserves it. He won't get it, but he has been an absolute stud for a few years and IMO warrants a spot on the All-Star team. I know he won't get it, but I think he does deserve one.

Def a legit point.. He probably won't but he has been solid for awhile now.

Joel Hanrahan would like to say whats up?

"What's up X?" - Joel Hanrahan

Hanrahan has definitely been the best closer in the NL so far this season, and will make it. However, I don't think they will take just one reliever.

No he just said the NL doesn't have a shut down closer and I was just disagreeing by saying that IMO Hanrahan is a shut down closer.

Setup guys just have a next to impossible time to get into the All-Star game. Special circumstances have to occur for them to get an all star nod. For example, Marmol made it because Kerry Wood, the closer, was injuried for the All-Star game in 08. Marshall has been great the past couple of seasons. Really can't think of a more effective left handed setup guy in the past couple of seasons.

He has been our best pitcher this year. That's not very hard to see. I never said he would get it, but he certainly deserves it.

Wow! By what measure is he the Cubs best pitcher, not mention W/L and ERA, he was on the DL for 3 weeks, and missed time. Wood Marshall Marmol and Zambrano have been better than Garza, by a mile. Samardzija deserves the hypothetical nod over Garza.

Castro should get on by his own merit, but he'll be the required team representative.

With Marshall's regression of late and Castro's surge, you've gotta believe Castro's case is getting better. I can't see the Cubs getting more than one rep, and, despite the talent at short in the NL, it's starting to become harder to see Castro not getting a serious look.

"Hey man! Forgive me for leaving you out of the "shut down NL closer's list..." But you play for the pirates, and nobody cares. Even your fans expect you to inevitably come crashing back down to earth soon. Keep pitching well and maybe you can gtfo of Shittsburgh and get some recognition. Congrats on being a potential all-star though! It will make the last 3 months of the season not feel as bad as they actually will be for you ;) " - X

Other than basically 3 bad games (in April) Brian Wilson has also been pretty damn good. I only mention it because he's on my fantasy team and he's been better than Marmol (who's also on my squad).

left handed relievers get in here and there hence thornton. marshall...ehh. I guess if castro wasnt on this team and they needed a rep it would be him. he hasnt been great recently but over all i think he does a good job for the cubs.

I don't think relievers should get in the game unless they're just ridiculous dominant. Like Mariano Rivera. The point of the game is to see the best players, and while most starters would probably never have to come into a game with men already on base, you'd think that they'd be able to pitch their way out of it anyway. But it's really the managers' call so what I say doesn't really matter :D

I also don't like that the "starters" only play 3-5 innings and then the rest of the game is decided by backups, who by default aren't as good as the starters. They should relax the substitution rules such that if you need a guy like Pujols or Votto to drive in a run in the 9th inning, they can come back into the game. The substitution scheme never made sense to me once the game actually gained importance, because you want it to be decided by the best possible players, not their backups.

Eh I kinda like it how it is, the only thing I would change is that if the game goes into extras you can re enter players.

or they can just take more players that are actually deserving of being there.

Also, Dewy, I don't know where your post is but Castro has been better as of late, not worse.
