Statistically, CW is getting out played by every quarterback drafted after him

Coaching coaching coaching. A real coach has this team at 7-3 or better even with offensive line deficiencies.
Agree 110.%, and that's where the problem lays. McCaskeys NEVER hired a Superbowl winning coaching staff. The Ditka was the very last one who did it. Comparing Caleb's stats with other rookies its just wrong. The Bears coaching staff wouldn't come close to what you call top grade coaches..

If McCaskey just wants to completely troll the Bears fanbase, leaving no doubt that is what he is doing, he allows Poles to fire Eberflus but insists they have to keep Morgan as the OL coach.

I attributed Morgan keeping his job to hiring an OC that just got fired and the guy that hired him looked one bad season away from also being fired.

I can't imagine coaches were screaming at their agents to get aboard that train........wreck.

OL was better this week too. Curious to see how they look with a new OC rest of season

Having the starting tackles back was almost as huge as the QB only taking two seconds to throw most of the day.

Now if Brown can get Caleb pushing the ball down the field successfully too, he is so making my Xmas card list!

Amazing when you have a more thought-out offensive approach with receivers running the proper routes (Moore on crossers, Allen on timed possession throws, Odunze go routes, etc), have your best TE in 90%+ of the plays, use Roschon more, that the O-line looks better too.

No doubt a competent OC from game 1 has Caleb producing stats like he did vs Panthers & Jags vs Arizona and NE, while also probably getting better production game 1 and 2 vs Hou and Indy. It's sad, but we see the signs w/Caleb.

Cutler beat them twice—in 2010 when they had 19 penalties and then again on Thanksgiving(?) in 2015. Trubisky beat them once. Grossman won 2 against them. I think Orton had 2 as well. They aren’t our rivals. We aren’t even a pesky fly to them.
I was at the 2010 win and the loss in the NFC Championship game. Cutler was rarely even competitive when playing the Packers but he did throw a ton of picks.

Caleb came out first start against them and had the game in hand. It’s too bad since the final drive was primarily Caleb and Odunze making the plays.

Mitch did survive them once in 2018. I was at that game too. Jackson saved the team with a late pick and then had to miss the playoff game because he was injured on the run back. Mitch did play pretty well that day.

It’s always just a fleeting moment with any victory against GB. It’s never sustained. (If Jackson plays in the playoff game vs Philly, Bears win. They picked on Amos a lot in that game.)

I feel a lot better if Caleb plays well in GB later in the year.

This I worry about. If the limitations are still there then teams will just scheme around it
They got a short-term one-game bump by doing something the Packers couldn’t expect and couldn’t scheme for. It led to nineteen points, which I guess is enough for some fans to be planning a parade but probably will crumble just as soon as Waldron’s offense crumbled.

Vikings, Lions, Niners next three weeks. The Vikings are tied for third in the NFL in sacks and lead the league in picks. The Lions give up a 73 passing rating. The time to rack up successes and build confidence is pretty much over and all you have to show for it is this one game against the Packers and a couple of cheap wins against dead teams.

What I feel good about is the Bears finally have a QB with the balls to compete against the Packers. He was clutch all day and didn’t shrink in the 4th quarter. He did everything necessary to win that game other than kicking the final FG himself.

Most Bear QBs shrink against the Packers at kickoff.
i hope so, time will tell

Interesting factoid is that Jim Finks, the GM was not involved in the hiring of Ditka. In fact, Jim Finks quit over that hire.
So we wound up with one of our most successful coaches, but lost out on our most successful GM.

I’d put him above Maye on your list. That being said, let’s look at coaches.

Dan Quinn and Sean Payton know how to work with QBs. Flus doesn’t. At this point we need to stop finding the next great coach and grab someone seasoned and looking for a revival.

You hit the nail on the head 100%. What is the biggest difference that has Williams where he is at compared to the others....Nix has Sean Payton and Daniels has Kliff K. Those kids were gifted elite offensive minds to guide them their rookie year. Here in Chicago, we gave Williams the dumbest most incompetent OC we could think off.

i hope the generational folks got that double dose of copium this morning

The Haul ™️ looking pretty good these days
That's a hell of a trademark symbol.

As much as he feels he needs to be a pocket passer... I think he's been avoiding running to a fault. Keep the defense honest with the threat by taking easy yards when they're being given to you. They're huge blow to the defense. Before this weekend, all the rookies ran more than Caleb. He just passed Nix though. I hope this continues cause it will otherwise take the pressure off of him in other situations.

OL was better this week too. Curious to see how they look with a new OC rest of season
I think the OL isn't great, but a good OC can mask some of the weaknesses through playcalling and also coaching Caleb. Statistically, they've been ok-ish depending on the metric you want to use. Not trying to say they're amazing, but good play calling and Caleb being decisive will go a very long way to take the pressure off of them.

Only thing I see of concern with Williams besides being drafted by one of the worst organizations in all of sports is how awful he’s been with accuracy. I’m not going to make excuses but I hope he has enough mental toughness to overcome the bears. It’s only year one and going to get a new coach next year let’s hope it’s not another joker

His arm is simply not as advertised. Not only is his accuracy poor on deep balls, it’s poor everywhere. He struggles with the easy ones a lot. Lost in all that velocity changing and arm angle bullshit was that he kinda sucks at throwing the ball on target.

It’s a massive issue. He just doesn’t have the talent to play the position in the NFL. What the Bears did against the Packers to ride to even modest “success” is going to be quickly studied and countered by every subsequent opponent (including Green Bay later this year).

Disagree with this. It came out earlier in the week that Waldron was not coaching the WRs to run routes a certain way. All the WRs ran routes the way they felt they wanted to. How does a QB anticipate and hit a spot when each WR is running routes differently? Its one of the first things said about Brown this past week - was that he was getting everyone to pay attention to the details. CW's accuracy and deep ball throws will improve as the WRs are more consistent with their routes.

Funny....here comes the revisionist history

My recollection; and it's probably 100% accurate;

"The "Haul" was based on adding weapons (mostly Marvin Harrison) for RB1....NOT trading down from 1.1 for the 4th/5th/6th qb of this draft class.

I'd still take Williams and still prefer him moving fwd.

Some wanted to take a different QB at a lower spot and build around him while acquiring picks. Some wanted to keep fields and trade down.

I think Odunze will be a more dynamic receiver as time goes on compared to MHJ. MHJ has awesome hands, but Odunze seems to create better separation and has better top speed.

So they got the best of both worlds with the QB and receiver.

Need to load up on IOL next year. 2-3 picks and 1 DL pick. I'd use rnd1 on DL, then both rnd2s on IOL.

Considering Williams plays for the Bears he's exceeding those other guys by light years.

It's duh franchise not the player.
