Statistically, CW is getting out played by every quarterback drafted after him

Some wanted to take a different QB at a lower spot and build around him while acquiring picks. Some wanted to keep fields and trade down.
So go from taking your preferred choice and best qb at 1.1 to......guessing hoping qb 4/5/6 would be there at some point later in the draft.....

Hell all 6 qb were gone by pick 12 so you'd have had to identify qb 4/5/6 as your guy AND make a trade down with someone at 12 or less and then hope "your guy" was still there

Honestly....no thanks on Nix or Penix and McCarthy looked like a longer term project and didn't seem like wash or ne were inteteted in the price to move from 3/2 to 1.....not sure how realistic a trade down was to anyone inside the.top 7

The Bears traded away Christian Darrisaw and Charles Cross for Justin Fields. Imagine how different things are if they just chilled out, put a veteran quarterback in there and built the roster up with those two guys. It’s too soon to see what could have been with Caleb Williams, and we’ll never really know what offers were on the table for first overall, but it just feels like they made that same mistake again.

And then the Chase Claypool trade and impulsive overdrafting of Darnell Wright. The Bears really are dogs chasing their own tails.

You gotta break the cycle, that’s first and foremost. No more whacky trades, it has been a theme with this franchise since they acquired Jay Cutler.

Cutler beat them twice—in 2010 when they had 19 penalties and then again on Thanksgiving(?) in 2015. Trubisky beat them once. Grossman won 2 against them. I think Orton had 2 as well. They aren’t our rivals. We aren’t even a pesky fly to them.
I think you’re missing the point.

Cutler was 2-11 against the Packers.
Trubisky was 1-6.
Fields was 0-6.

That’s getting absolutely clownishly owned.

On the other hand, Caleb actually played well and led the Bears on what should have been a game winning drive in his very first start against the Packers as a rookie.

So he’s top 25 in sacks since the trade? For a 2nd rounder, that’s a good deal. Were you expecting an MVP year? Lol

No I wasn’t missing the point. I was reinforcing it.

And now he looks kinda cooked. Right after he got that huge money.
Wow. A guy that is playing considerably less than a 100% isn’t producing. Imagine that.

You know that moving down a few spots still nets you a 1st rounder and other picks right?

Well you sign a guy through his late twenties and you run that risk that his body just sort of breaks down.
Yes if this is a sign of things to come, then yes it’s gonna suck. But he’s been relatively healthy most of his career so I don’t think this is the case. I don’t even know his PFF rating(and nor do I really care) but I’m sure it’s near last year but probably not his best season by a long shot.

He has a nagging injury. You can see him limping. Probably should sit a couple weeks to heal.

All I will say is that the only reason Williams has played poorly is because of everyone else and the only reason the other QBs have been better is because of their coaching and supporting cast and the rare times that Caleb plays well are all because Caleb is HIM and generational, and a competition and all of the other stuff that makes him so much better than everyone else despite no evidence of that.

Point I’m really making here is that the Bears gotta chill out. And it’s not a particular Ryan Poles problem, though he has taken it to a bit of an extreme. The guy before him was also hyperactive on these trades in a way that was just lethal to the Bears ability to build a roster long-term.

This is true. He’s built a roster that could be 7-3 or better with competent coaching but the roster has a ceiling that wouldn’t win a SB and it’s not looking promising that CW was the right QB. In other words, the clown show marches on!

It is frankly bizarre that for two straight years the Bears were among the NFL’s worst teams yet they were buyers at the deadline.

My favorite Caleb plays are the ones where the stars align and he accurately throws it to DJ Moore eight yards past the line of scrimmage. Then DJ makes like six guys miss, scampers for a 20 yard gain and everyone marvels at how CALEB HAS FINALLY ARRIVED.

Then Caleb takes two sacks, drops the Bears out of field goal range and they score three points against the Patriots :(

I don't think its a mystery that the offense as a whole was a dumpster fire in both the Arizona and New England games. I don't put that on Caleb.

I like Caleb and do think the majority of this is coaching, not surprising but we are going on 3? games without a passing TD? It's a concern. He did look better Sunday for sure, but he also looked like a 3rd round pick managing the game, for most of that game. The 4th QTR heroics are very promising, it's too bad his shitty head coach blows games like @hyatt151 blows @nc0gnet0
