No ones getting ahead of themselves. doosox is engineering comments you quoted through sarcasm because people are excited about having talent on the roster. Nothing more. So then the soxtrolls try to get out in front of this by resorting to sarcastic distortions or by saying the sox talent pipeline is just as good.

People are definitely getting ahead of themselves as I've gone back, reading some of these threads. Not everybody, but all fanbases have meatballs.

And this site, this cubs board has several. I feel I'm being generous as I say 'several.' Cub fans are counting chickens before they hatch.

The Sox pipeline may just be as good. As I recall, the Mighty Keith Law said Chris Sale was a failure of a pitcher and shouldn't have even been taken before the 3rd round.

Said he didn't have top notch stuff, that he only relied on 2 pitches, ranked him low, and now Sale is a top 5 pitcher in baseball. I don't even like the Sox and I can admit that.

That's why these "rankings" mean nothing to me. Anything can happen. Crazy things have happened. Player's you least expect show up and turn into tomorrow's stars while the people with all the hype and expectations often fail.

Want to make annoying Sox fans go away? Stop talking about them and their team. Dont devote threads to them. They have their own board on this site.

This.

I mean look at guys like Mark Buehrle. You just never know. A lot of your prime players are guys that go late round or undrafted.

I hate ranking systems as well.

Sox fans should be able to talk cubs in a straight forward way and vice versa. Not every conversation is trolling as some members are very sensitive to.

This really isn't true. First, I think you're mistaking excitement over talented young players for counting their chickens.

Also, you're wrong about the sox fans (if that even exists) going away. They're trolls. They'd be here regardless. Because they're trolls, you see.

Right. It's just trolling when you feel it's trolling. It's so conveniently vague for you.

Another thing that makes your post Special person is how you complain about system rankings. But Cubs fans referencing them aren't conjuring up these rankings. They're rankings from outside observers who generally have no affiliation with the Cubs. It's non biased assessments of prospects, which is about as straight forward as it gets. So when you say "talk Cubs in a straight forward way" it's really a euphemism for trolling.

theo needs to get to the playoffs with this cubs team in the next 2 seasons or it will continue to be a fail, a continue of specs that people fap about, and a continue of false hope.

then Kenny Williams and rick Hahn should be on the hot seat after this season if they don't make playoffs because combined they have only made the playoffs once in 10 years and that was 7 years ago... that while trying to have a competitive team with aces in sales and buehrle and hitters like konerko and now Abreu...
giving sox fans players to fap about, and continue of false hope..

for all the grief you guys give the cubs for not making the playoffs , you need to look in your own backyard....

http://www.southsidesox.com/2011/12...ll-cannot-admit-he-was-wrong-about-chris-sale

Or for those who don't want to read.....

Do you like Chris Sale's move to the rotation and where do you see him as a future starter?

Klaw (1:35 PM) No, I don't.

Keith, what are your thoughts on Chris Sale?

Klaw(1:25 PM)

I ranked him 47th. The White Sox took him 13th. You do the math.

* * *

Really? Cubs fans on this site aren't meatballs? I'm not saying all. But you cant admit that?

How many meatballs projected 2015-16 line ups of all prospects? Whoops.

Sox fans troll because whomever made this thread opened the front door to let them. And of course their meatballs met the ones here......and now we have 8 pages of cluster ****

Again, not true. Sox fans troll every thread in the Cubs forum. Besides, they could have just as easily discussed this in the sox forum amongst themselves. There are inherent wrongs in the Cubs forum that requires a response from a sox fan.

And who cares about keith law being wrong on sale. It doesn't really matter. He's going to be right on some guys and wrong on some.

Btw, I agree there are some meatballs but not for the reasons you're mentioning here. Some posters like to pretend it never rains in lakeview and supports everything ownership/management has ever done.

Apparently the person who kept making a point of #12 and #1 being really close. They won't all work out, but I'd be much more confident of one of Bryant, Russell, Soler working out than one out of Rodon and whoever your next two lower-ranked prospects are.

If Rodon fails, you're screwed. If Bryant fails, we have two other guys that are legitimately elite prospects.

Agree with your post except this. If we stopped talking about Sox fans, Dews and Brett wouldn't know what to do with themselves. :D

Yep. I posted this in the Sox forum, but it fits here. Before the season starts, this is what most fan bases break down to. Of course I make no claim as to this polling data being scientific. :D

Parade_Rain said:
OK. Let's break this down properly. 70% meatballs. 15% meatballs who think they are fair and balanced. 10% are so negative about their own team that they are probably Negative Nellies in all facets of life. That leaves 5%. ...

The fact that the A's probably couldn't afford to keep him after last season is being thoroughly overlooked here.

No it is not being overlooked at all. That's why Shark was available.

LOL, yes, it is. They were desperate to sell and the White Sox gave them 4 players under a combined 18 years of control for only one guaranteed season of Samardzija. Semien was the highest rated prospect given up, and he was the 91st rated prospect prior to 2014. Sox didn't really give up very much because the A's had to unload him, and because they were only getting him for one guaranteed season. It was a great deal for the Sox, but to pretend they got him because of their deep farm system is laughable.
