My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Toledo Rockets
Well really who knows. This is supposed to be quiet contract negotiations. I'm sure numbers are overblown right now. Hahn's gona pull the wool over all our eyes and sign him

This. Tanaka is the exception, not the rule.

**** it. I'd pay the money. Because the guy is good. He's trained himself also to pitch deep into games. They had this discussion on MLB Tonight the other night. If you train yourself you can pitch heavy workloads. I'm not worried about that because he's 25 not 35. Take risks. Can't win by being the Royals. Sometimes it works sometimes it fails. Like Dunn. **** it at least we try. That's all I ask for.

yes mitch williams made the comment. 160 pitches than closing the next night is a bit much. thats a lot of strain on a 170 million player.

We would never do that. I just mean that his body and are trained well.

Same old stupid Cubs.

They spend years putting together a mediocre roster and hoard a bunch of A-ball players and a few top prospects. They've passed on high profile FAs and trades because they "weren't ready." Now all of a sudden they want to run out and pay nearly 200M on a 10 yr contract for Tanaka? For what, PR? Makes no sense whatsoever.

The Cubs are not in a position to contend anytime soon. His arm will be wasted while the Cubs sit on their hands. By the time any of their prospects pan out, he will have major innings and losses on that arm. If he's smart he'll stick with teams that want to win now.

Except Dunn was a terrible signing. You don't pay $16 MIL per for a one-dimensional HR hitter who can barely hit the ball out of the infield when he's not striking out. Worst signing in White Sox history.

Ya he was. But I think he was a last resort IIRC. We missed out on victor. But I'd still rather be trying than not

A good fall back would be Jimenez. That would still leave $$ in the tank for other options.

I can't believe I am going to do this....

Yes it was.

He's become one dimensional. No one hated this deal when done.
Worst signing in White Sox history.
Educate yourself on Jamie Navarro.

thats a bit extreme. he flopped in year 1. year 2 and 3 he was arguably your best offensive producing player.

I hated the Dunn trade and said as much on the ESPN board back in the day. I love that KW is aggressive with roster moves. The only problem is he was never willing or able to get the guys he really wanted, always settling for plan b out of desperation. Dunn was a slow power hitter who couldn't hit his own weight in BA and averaged 200 strikeouts a year in the NL. It's obvious he would struggle in the AL, but many people ignored this. The Sox needed to add a bat for the playoff run, and KW whiffed on the guys he knew could help the team. Ultimately, that's what happens when you roll the dice on guys like Dunn... you get burned. Now we're stuck paying him all this money until his contract expires. I personally thought KW should have been fired for that, and other debacles he initiated.

Dude look at his stats. He's a waste of a roster spot for the amount of money he's making.

The Sox couldn't trade him for a six pack of

if they wanted to.

1) you may or may not have but let's say you did
2) he was not acquired by trade
3) he was hitting his weight prior to us

1) I am not a liar.
2) So what he didn't get traded, that wasn't my point, so why change the subject?
3) He was also in the National League.
