Teravainen could be joining the Hawks.

We will see. I dont think he needs the Hogs myself. Nothing he needs to learn there. I know the big ice surface to small surface thing will be used as a reason but I really don't think he will have problems adjusting.

Just opinion. Not that I have anything to say in what happens to him anyways.

If he had been playing from the start of the season it would be totally different TCD, apparently something you and Grim can't seem to understand.

But it's not like that. What can you realistically expect from a 19 year old kid playing NHL hockey for the first time, after being in what might only be around 10 games max of experience through the end of this season? How good can you possibly expect him to play in the NHL playoffs? Why would you expect any player to just come right into the league and be some sort of savior at that point? Why would it be worth probably seeing him struggle? That's not a knock against him either, that's just what's probably going to happen if they keep him for the playoffs.

I know you don't like it, but there's an equally important business side of the game that is put into consideration as well. And in that they're looking at paying Toews and Kane probably close to if not 9 million dollars each. You know it has to be around what Getzlaf and Perry got. Then there's Leddy that needs to be re-signed that same year. And Saad as well. And Crawford's contract kicking in next season. So if you're in that type of situation and can put off for another year paying a player like what Teuvo will get, just based purely off his potential, and you don't really have anything to gain by letting him play and in turn burning a year off that ELC (which wasn't the case with any of the players Grim listed or Saad for that matter as they played throughout the entire season), then you do it.

no no no. We both understand the argument. We both think that argument is a cliche and both of us think outside the box sometimes. Something that is what pro sports needs. We also present the other side of the argument for debate purposes. Hell sometimes both of us don't even believe what we are saying. Some call it trolling but I call it presenting other sides to think about. Stu is probably just trolling though. TT isn't a baby who needs a bottle. If he comes onto the team and he has a poor showing it isn't going to effect him in the long term. Those who know TT and those who always talk about his character always say hes mature beyond those of the same age and he's grounded enough to handle adversity in his game. I honestly 100% don't believe the adjustment for TT will be that difficult and hes around a good enough character and coaches to make the adjustment smoothly. Just not worried about this nonsense. Im more worried about how an old fart like Handzus is going to make it through a playoff round after a real full scheduled season unlike last year. Worried about how Hossas health holds up. Not worried about a rookie with talent from euro hockey coming onto the team late into a season. Just doesn't concern me one bit. I know that's hard to accept because the hockey experts for eons now have said that its dangerous. Same experts are wrong as mush as they are right. This is opinion and its not going to change with me just as im not going to change yours.

And again about all that contract stuff. I as a fan don't care!! I as a fan don't wrap myself up in that stuff anymore because as we have seen since the cap world what we expect to be is never what it actually is season through season. I'm done with the money side of the game as a fan I don't even think I have been on a site like Cap Geeks for a year and a half now. No point when a cap just keeps changing and contract formulas keep changing year by year. I seriously don't know why any fans attach themselves to that stuff anymore after what has happened the last few years. I'm not an accountant I am not a cap specialist I am not a contract lawyer. I am a fan. Those who are hired by this org to deal with contracts and caps and all that business stuff can have at it as they and they alone only know the specifics and even then they have no have no clue whats happening with the cap etc etc year by year..its the great folly of this league and how it operates. That shit doesn't effect my feelings about TT as a player and the Hawks in no way or no form. I'm happy I stepped away from all that money crap also because it's allowed me to actually watch hockey again and let the players have an actual human side with error and not just a number attached to them which no one can ever live up to because someone is always going to be the critic based on financial shit that doesn't effect them.

I liked hockey more when contracts and all that other shit wasn't public like it is now. All this money shit blurs and influences fans opinions on a player rather than their actual skills and what they can bring to a team on the ice. Playing accountant fan for a team isn't fun anymore. And it's not that "I don't get it". I just don't give a shit about it. Im here for hockey not monopoly.

Like I said, because you don't like it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I don't really like it either, but I have to acknowledge it's existence because it's important. And it definitely doesn't mean it doesn't play a big part in the decision making process in building a team like the Hawks have currently that we all enjoy watching. Because it plays a huge part in that. I'm not saying it would even necessarily affect Terarvainen if he were to have even an absolute horrific playoff, I don't think it would stunt his development or anything. Never said that. It just wouldn't be worth the trade off of what you can realistically expect a player like him at this point in his yet to be NHL career can do under those circumstances and what it will mean for the organization in the not so distant future in making a decision like that.

That's not being some kind of "robot fan" who sees cap hits skating around the ice instead of actual people, it's just being realistic. And it's a lot easier than you make it out to be.

I think it's likelier to see TT on the Hogs before the Hawks. There simply isn't capspace for him at the moment.

So how many games will TT play before people turn on him and call him a bust? 3 games?

With Kane out for a couple weeks, why not allow TT a chance to play on the 2nd line? If he's got the talent, is a couple game stint on the 2nd line going to hurt his development? Highly unlikely.

Now, if he's not skilled enough (obviously not the case), then send him to Rockvegas.

That's not likely now with the Hawks signing a free agent college kid. Matt Carey just signed a 2 year entry level contract and is reporting to the Hawks.

But Carrey because he was signed after the trade deadline can't play playoffs. Essentially the Leblanc signing all over again. Teuvo can play till our season is over because he was signed last summer.

I doubt they don't keep TT up for the rest of the year. This kid looked sublime during he preseason and he's only gotten better. Keep him around practicing with the Hawks and let him get to take in the NHL pro atmosphere. Going to Rockford isn't going to do him really any good for the rest of the season besides playing with guys he clearly more talented then. Rockford only has 13 games left this season and he's going to get called up anyways to be a Black Ace.

That's my thoughts too. Why not give him a taste of the NHL with Kane out. Even if he does go to Rockford after a couple games, it would still give him a bit of a benchmark to shoot for and a view of what NHL life is like.

Couldn't hurt to hang out with the team for a while too.
