Incorrect. This is his FIRST SEASON with the team as a starter. Just as it is with Dowell, Bickell and Crawford.

While Skille has played a handful of games, like the others, it is their FIRST season with the team.

Four years with the "organization" is NOT four years with the "team".

Bull. He's had 30 games with the team the previous 3 seasons.

16 games in 07-08

8 games in 08-09

6 games in 09-10

Not a rookie in my book.

Just as Bickell, Dowell and Crawford. Take your idiocy elsewhere.

That's really too bad. I'd rather see Skille in the line-up rather than Stalberg. I'm fine with Scott playing but why against the Stars? Ott? Bickell can take a guy like that easily. No one on the Stars will **** with Scott anyway, kinda pointless.

I believe Ott took out Sharp with a blatant knee on knee two years ago or was that Kane? Ott is a cheapshot artist but like you said there's a lot of guys on the team that could handle him.

People are so hilarious about Scott... he's done nothing but improve all season and has actually looked good the last 5 games or so he's played. Especially for 500K... oh well, haters gonna hate for no reason.

But scratching Skille for Scott? PUHLEAZE.

Am I banned from leaving bad rep or something?

No it's kind of goofie.

An NHL player must play 25 games in a single season to be considered NOT a rookie. I'm pretty sure Leo would have the correct answer if he ever showed up.

Well, to be fair, Skille isn't a rookie according to the league with his 25+ games. But for all intents and purposes he could as well be called a rookie as the extra 5 games prior to this season has hardly made him a veteran.

edit: According to wikipage on the Calder, "To be eligible for the award, a player cannot have played any more than 25 games previously in any single season, nor have played in more than six games in each of two separate preceding seasons in any major professional league."

I think Scott could hit more but he's afraid because of what he is, the enforcer, he'll be tagged with more penalties if he does. I've seen him pull up from a hit time and time again.

Strange for such a big guy.

Let's see here:

Skille - 1st round pick and 7TH OVERALL!!

Bickell - 41st pick overall

Dowell - 140th pick overall

Crawford - 52nd pick overall

Sorry - but I expect a lot more from a 1st round pick taken 7th overall. He couldn't find a starting position for 4 years??? That speaks volumes about him not living up to his draft pick potential. I'm not giving him any slack at this point.

He was asked that in an interview before the Sharks game last week. He said right now he's focused more on stick handling and skating and the reason he looked so awful at first was because when ever he'd get the puck on his stick he'd try to pass it too quick or ice it because he was nervous. He's been working very hard on skating and worked with Hossa a bit on shooting and stick handling and he's feeling more comfortable in his role.

I'd guess he realizes he's slow and doesn't want to be out of position. That or he's so damn tall he doesn't want to get tagged with a "head shot" by leveling a guy with his shoulder.

He's definetely gotten faster and hasn't made any boneheaded plays in awhile unlike "other Mr Useless" Boynton.

Well, it's not really his fault that he was picked that high is it? Blame the scouts and the GM. And being a top 10 pick is no guarantee that the player will be an impact player.

No matter what you babble there he's still a rookie.

To some novice fans it's an easy card to pull though.

edited my post with what the wikipedia page said, it seems Skille falls into the 6 or more games the two previous seasons for not being a rookie.

Typing here on my iPhone, I'm contributing just as much to the Blackhawks "continuing success" as Scott has this season.

I get that he's a fun player and a scary fighter.

He just doesn't add anything, and his mere existence tempts Q to play him over guys that at least have a modicum of a chance to contribute, such as Skille.

If Scott were gone.....NO ONE would notice.

On the flip side he hasn't hurt the team.

Yep. Part time callups really don't get much of a look.

This is Jack's first year to shine.....You really need to evaluate him on this season alone.

I suppose Q is sitting Skille because of his dumbass play that led to the breakaway goal Monday night. Other than that, I can't imagine why he'd be sitting. If he'd been consistently bad Monday, I wouldn't have a problem with sitting him. But if it's for one bad play, I don't agree with it...

and if you compare Skille's first season to say Brouwers, I think he gets some slack.

I do believe he'll be traded though. Just a feeling.

Gotta give the guy credit. He could have gotten near a mil somewhere else and took a 500k pay cut to play here. That says something about character.
