Thoughts:

-Leddy may have been the best d-man on the ice tonight.

-Pisani was a wizard on the PK.

-Crawford had a good game.

-Scott can't do anything, what was he brought here to do again?

-Offense sputtered in the 3rd... taking shots from the perimeter, no one driving towards the net, I even saw some dump and chase. What the heck was going on?

-Bolland/Sharp/Kane is a total fail of a line... why did Q insist on sticking those three together?

-Skille another good game.

-Officiating was brutal... no-call for the hit on Kane and call on Toews were extremely weak.

-Boynton must have felt like shit after basically throwing the game into the stands, wonder how Q will react with Hammer still out.

-Q clearly experimenting early in the season with Crawford starting tonight, as well as testing Leddy & Hendry on the PK late in the game.

Well, he is playing 35 minutes a game. Everyone's entitled to a bad shift or two, but you are noticing them because the guy never leaves the ice.

I have to question Q when with less than a minute left on a penalty kill he has Hendry and Leddy out there to kill a penalty in a 2-2 game. I know Boynton is in the box and Hendry isn't much better, but you have to have 7 and 2 on the ice in that situation. I guess that's what happens when you run them into the ground the entire game.
Both have played poor defensively. Hendry and Leddy were at least playing better games to that point.

Not play defense in games where Campbell was hurt or Hjalmarsson decided to do something stupid?

Ton,

You read my mind about Scott.

Every time I saw him on the ice I got nervous.

I guess not... when Campbell/Hammer are back I hope he never steps on the ice again. I don't have any confidence in him.

He can't skate, can't pass, can't handle the puck, and his "active" stick is useless since he just waves it aimlessly. There's no direction in his game, hes like a over sized turnstile that is easy to beat one-on-one. I have yet to see him win a battle along the boards or even for open ice.

Not only that, but he was brought here to be a physical presence, how many fights has he engaged? How many hits has he laid? Do you really think Scott has scared anyone?

Nashville sure didn't mind kicking our ass and beating up on Kane all night. Nice protection!

Stu,

We don't need Scott. I'm all for old time hockey and letting the players duke it out to settle issues but Scott is your typical "old school" goon who can't do anything besides fight. He can't play defense worth shit and doesn't even throw his weight around that much. With Campbell being injured and Hammer suspended toss Scott down on waivers to the AHL and bring up someone from Rockford for a few games. Shit at least Lalonde and Pepin can play defense.

Scott is lost on the ice and every time he gets the puck I get worried as I've seen Peewee's with a better ability to stick handle and pass.

Here's a quick question that I'm curious if you've ever thought about...

If Scott was even a decent player, why did the WILD, of all teams, no resign him for the NHL minimum and let him walk as a free agent?

Well, you said it best. He's a big oaf with hardly any hockey skills.

And that's why I questioned his signing to begin with. Getting a tough guy who can play is one thing but Scott doesn't fill that bill. I think the penalty he took tonight clearly showed that.
Really TCD? You didn't notice Pisanis PK work? The guy is excellent there.
I'll give him recognition for the PK work he does. I guess I should have been more clear. Even strength he has shown nothing. I liked the Pisani signing and I am sticking by him but as of right now he needs to improve. People can say what they want about Madden last year being below average even strength but a great PK guy. As or fight now Pisani is horrible even strength. Sorry to bring up the Madden comparison it's not really fair.

Anyways...no sky is falling. 4 games into a 82 game season. Lots of time for the chemistry and everything to work itself out. Right now I think that is the biggest issue and it's effecting a lot of guys. It will work itself out.

Gotchya and agreed, he must improve 5-on-5 -- just thought I might point out that he has contributed heavily in that area IMO, glad I'm not the only one that has noticed his PK work. Bolland is another guy that I have been heavily disappointed with offensively.

There can't be too many players in the NHL worse than John Scott. He does not belong on this hockey team.

It's been proven the last decade by Detroit and by the Hawks last year that you don't need big worthless bruisers to win championships. All of that talk is complete bullshit. Even if Scott was brought here to "enforce", he hasn't done that yet either.

I understand the Hawks have injury issues, but it'll get old real fucking quick if John Scott remains an every night player when 4 and especially 51 come back.

I also have to wonder how Q can clearly have so little confidence in Jordan Hendry but send him over the bench with under a minute left on the PK.

I think when we're at full strength this is a strong defensive hockey team. There's no reason not to think that; our only top 6 defenseman that left is Brent Sopel, and I think Leddy will be just as serviceable this year as Sopel was last year. But for right now, there are going to be some glaring issues on the back end.

I dont talk about players good or bad very much at all but i think all Scott can do is maybe get lucky and block a shot or 2 with those size 32 skates and he so far is a big oaf

I screamed SLEWFOOT at the TV as soon as it happened.
Worst part is he called Toews for a penalty when it should have been a 5 on 3 for the Hawks.

Are you kidding me..

Scott continues to get worse. Boynton with the puck over the glass with 2 minutes left?

Man our D is fucked up with Campbell and now Hjarlmarsson is out, BUT this is the 3rd game we could have and should have won, and didn't.. Long way to go.

Side note, O'Brien paid his debt. Good fucking man. He's got some class and I'm a 100 richer!!

I'm beginning to think we don't need Scott either. I like the fact there is someone to keep other teams honest, but I can not get over his constant mistakes.

Also WTF is Q thinking. He's got this team so disorganized at the moment. Hell there was a point in the 3rd Bolland was centering Sharp and Kane???? Really? Brouwer on the 4th fucking line? Skille with 9 minutes and hardly anything in the 3rd? Q pull your head out of your ass!

Surprised the shit out of me!!! Then again we agreed to go double or nothing this year. HAHA!

He's still pissed at Vancouver. Big time. Hate to see what happens to the Sisters when Obrien and the Preds visit the Canucks. He's going out for damage.

Can I make a NHL trade? I'll give the islanders Scott, Hendry, and Boynton and they can give me Wiz back. Shame we couldn't afford him. Oi Vey those three up there fucked the pooch tonight.

Hendry I give slack too because that was his first game. Scott and Boynton. Another 16 games like this and I'm going to blow my top.

The usual boring Nashville game. Crawford looked good and so far he has shown that he is more than an adequate backup. The D looked like it was short 2 regulars, but I'll echo the sentiments that Leddy looked good. The kid has improved every game.

And yes, the forward lines need to get mixed up, let Skille and Brouwer get top 6 minutes for a change as they have been very positive the last couple of games, especially Skille. Then again, the 4th line managed to cause some havoc in the Preds end with their great cycling so the worked tonight.

All in all the Hawks looked liked they lacked that necessary jump and that was a reason they could not go up by 2. Again a penalty towards the end and this time it bit the Hawks in the ass, not nice to see a possible point slip away in the last minute.

Still early in the season and it's hard to gauge the team when it's short a couple of players, but if by game 10-15 the team hasn't shown some cohesiveness then I might to start worrying. They still got a ways to go and I do believe they can become a really good team once they all figure it out.

I actually thought Boynton had a good game again. So fare I think he has played best of our d's, sadley he made a bad mistake that cost us the game. But when Keith and Seabrook logging hard minutes they are not nears as good as we can expect.

Pisani plays good on the PK I agree, but he seams scared like a rabbit out on the ice 5on5, at least Q could put him in the 4th line.

Even more disappointed at Bolland, he's not even doing a good job in the PK so fare.

Put Skille and Stalberg with him (who seams to have found a good chemistry) and see if that gets him going...

I'm really starting to like Leddy, which is saying a lot because I love to be critical of ex-gophers, but it's really neat to see how he's progressed in just his 4 games. Kid seems to play a better game every night and his stick always seems to be in a good position.

I would imagine once Hammer and Campbell come back we can say goodbye to Scott and Boynton (THANK GOD). Scott just seems like he's stuck in quicksand out there or something cause he hasn't picked his feet up off the ice at all.

Crawford continues to impress. Looks really big in net and he looks like he's finally solved his rebound control issues. Nice to have a good 1-2 punch in net and hopefully a goalie who can take over the reigns in a year or two.

Pisani is pretty fucking bad. For being a PK specialist, he sure fucked up clearing that puck at the end of the game today. Not sure how he didn't clear it, as noone was near him. He fired it right into Ward on the boards instead of hoisting it out of the zone... I don't think his PK work makes up for him dragging any line he plays with down into the abyss. I've seen eight year olds with more poise and patience with the puck. As soon as it touches his stick, he throws it away a second later. Doesn't take a look for an open man, doesn't assess the situation, just gets it off his stick ASAP. Kinda how he blew that PK clearing with 40 seconds left in the game. I don't know what the **** Q was ever thinking putting him on a line with Kane and Sharp... I was expecting him to be able to play on our third line in a shutdown role, and pitch in here and there. Unfortunately, I am starting to see why Edmonton let him go.

Boynton, what the **** man? Seriously. Up until that terrible play at the end of the game, you had played a pretty good game. All he had to do was bank it to Pisani right on the boards. Not sure why he was trying to ice the puck....
