16 goals/9 assists for ladd
14 goals/15 assists for stalberg

It isnt like stalberg is blowing the doors away on ladd, as ladd is close enough in points his overall tool set is much much better than stalbergs. Ladd is not on a team that is built to win the cup this year, the hawks are. the surrounding talent on the jets is worse than what stalberg has had. in stalbergs last 5 games he has 1 goal and 2 assists, the product of what he has surrounding him with the injuries.

I think stalberg is fine for what he makes annually.

The arguement (I know Joe always does) is not about having versteeg over stalberg W/salary included in the debate, because we all know that it wasnt possible with the cap issues.

1. Last 5 games = small sample size.
2. Yes, I understand, I was just stating a fact that he has indeed narrowly outproduced Ladd. Just throwing it out there,
3. W/out salary considerations there is no argument. However, Joe is completely oblivious to the fact that there is indeed a salary cap, and thus the ensuing argument begins. The argument (not really an argument since Joe doesn't reply) is about how Stan & the rest of the Front Office aren't dumbasses for trading Versteeg and getting Stalberg, even though they had too. I don't know, I guess Joe would rather have traded Sharp instead.

The best move was the move that never was made. trading sharp.

sure its a sample size but its a good indicator of what he will project out to be with 2 of your biggest weapons out of the lineup. what does he have? 1 hit in the last 2 games or some staggering number, he isnt even doing that now for some reason.

but yes, steeger, buff, ladd had to go. wish we kept more but that cap burnt us.

Well fortunately, we shouldn't have to go too many more games without Toews/Sharp, and then Stalberg can get back to producing.

wait, but you are. you "pace" and ''projected"= same thing.

I care about age because he is BEHIND the 8 ball with Ladd and Versteeg. They are the SAME age, and what Versteeg and Ladd were doing during the championship run, stalberg was playing with the marlies and leafs not doing a whole lot of anything. so, with that said....ladd and steeger are ahead of the curve. so you 99 years old thing holds no water. try again.

talking about what he is doing right now? huh? vs what steeger and ladd where in the 10 season all being the same age? gluck getting out of this little bag your in.

Pace is talking about THIS season. I don't see how that has anything to do with age.

I'm going to refrain from making any more comparisons to Stalberg and Ladd/Versteeg because, on second though, they're not much of anything alike as players, really.

The point is, Stalberg is putting up numbers better than most of us would've thought at the start of the year, and he's putting up bigger numbers than some of the other "secondary scorers" from the Cup team (albeit getting to skate with Toews/Kane/Hossa instead of on the 3rd line like Versteeg and Ladd were).

He's doing well. Real well.

Do not recall hitting ever being a part of Stalberg's game. Speed was always the story on him.

he had 102 last year and has 55 this year so he is in a sense somewhat physical.

They said in the last game Stalberg had about 2 hits in the last 5-6 games... I think the move to the top line becoming a consistent situation with production made him focus too much on just trying to playmake and lay off hitting as much.

I don't think the Ladd/Versteeg/Stalberg comparisons are fair at all.

Both Stalberg and Versteeg have more points than Ladd, if I'm correct, but Ladd is by far the better player. It's not all about points.

The point is that Stalberg is having a really good year especially for a guy that isn't even getting paid a million this year and was expected to only play on the fourth line. Now he's on the top line and when Toews comes back he'll go back to being on a line where he was put to improve other players.

When you are moved to help improve other players, I'd say that you're good.

.

no, if you are good you stay on the top lines.

I dont think he is going to be moved down to help "improve" the bottom end of the lines. thats going a bit far.

I figure it's not worth it to make comparisons between those players because Stalberg is a different player than the other two. Versteeg and Ladd were part of the 3rd checking line that shut down opposing top lines all through the playoffs in 09-10. Stalberg isn't that guy.

Then why was he moved to the third line by Q specifically to help get that line going? Those are basically Quenneville's words.

I meant that they aren't fair to make, not are. I agree with you.

Different types of players and points aren't how you judge how important Andrew Ladd is to his team. I'd take Ladd over Stalberg any day. Who wouldn't?

God damn it I loved Ladd. Now a bit of a Jets fan just because he's on the team.

I like the Jets too, I love the city of Winnipeg and hate the city of Vancouver. When BC (Vancouver) beat Winnipeg in the Grey Cup (CFL championship game), I was pissed.
