that is what everyone was stating about stalberg last year when he was bad, was sample size. So wait, I cant do that? Im not CO,joe or Waldo buddy. keep trying though.

Can I ask one thing?

If people started changing their opinion of stalberg, would you follow the sheep? Im pretty sure you would. Now go back to the bar and post stuff about joecawks and stalgod...things you wore out.

No, I'd only change my mind if there was an actual good reason. Although I suspect that there would have to be some good reasons if other people were changing there minds too, no?

Well I'm not going to change my mind over a small thing.

I'm usually quite slow giving up on players, generally speaking... I stuck with Darwin Barney all season, Tyler Colvin until he was traded, Diego Chaves on the Fire until the end of the season when he proved me right with an amazing goal in the 2nd to last game and another in the last game after not having scored since like the 5th game of the season. Hell, I even stuck with Kosuke Fukudome until mid-2010. When it is clear they aren't good, they aren't good, but if there is even the slightest doubt and they make actually be something, I'll stand behind them.

As much fun as it is watching you guys piss and moan at each other, I think the biggest point is being missed.

Stalberg is currently 6th on the team in scoring with 14 goals and 15 assists (29 points, for those who suck at 2nd grade math). He's on pace for more points than guys like Versteeg, Brouwer, and Ladd had in the Cup season.

Stalberg is the epitome of secondary scoring, something the Hawks badly needed last yer and didn't get. When guys like Toews/Kane/Sharp/Hossa aren't scoring, Stalberg has shown that he CAN. That's a great sign for this team going forward.

^^^ He is 5th in scoring which makes it a tad more impressive, but yes.

I think the "Top 6" argument with Stalberg is kinda pointless.

You show me ONE team in the NHL that has six guys worthy of being called a "Top 6" forward. I don't think you can.

Hawks in '09-'10 had Troy Brouwer skating with Toews and Kane. Anyone think he's a top 6 guy? Didn't think so.

Detroit has Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Holmstrom ... then anyone else you'd call a Top 6? Probably not.

Pittsburgh (when healthy) has Crosby, Malkin, Neal, Kunitz.

Washington has Ovechkin, Backstrom, Semin ...

Most teams have 3 or 4 guys that are the best forwards, and they'll fill in the other two spots with guys that are talented but usually need assistance of some other great players to bring out their full potential. That's what Stalberg is benefiting from right now.

By top 6 are we arguing 6 best, or literally the Top 6 (e.g. 1st and 2nd Lines)?

Because you could have 3 Centers in your top 6 in scoring, but the winger could still be worthy of being on the Top 2 lines considering the 3rd center would have to be on the 3rd.

It's truly a blessing we have 4 (when healthy).

What concerns me most about Stalberg on that line is when the physical play really picks up and teams go back to absolutely murdering Toews and Kane.

you really cannot compare since all of them are the same age, What you can say is that the other players especially ladd and versteeg are more ahead of the game so its a mute point. while versteeg and ladd where on a championship team as contributors, stalberg was jocking between the marlies and leafs that year. stalberg(85) versteeg (86) ladd (85) the years they were born.........so again he isnt this young guy who is younger than those players on a bigger track.

What? I can't compare them because of age?

Don't see how that's valid at all.

I don't give a shit if he's 99 years old, he's producing MORE than guys that were previously in the same position as he was.

I'm not talking about what he's projected to do, I'm talking about what he's doing right NOW.

I've got that concern about everyone on the team except Hossa, really.

Although Hayes' size can help and Shaw's got a certain energy about him that seems to spark the team.

Don't know if they can still perform in games after No. 82, though.

I wouldn't really be too worried about Toews/Kane. They are big boys and it hasn't been an issue in the past. Of course they are going to get hit and maybe even pushed around, but that is hockey.

Also, not like there are better options on the Blackhawks right now to "protect" those two. Stalberg is 4th on the team (in regards to forwards) in hits. Mayers, Carcillo, and Bickell are the only 3 ahead of Stalberg. Carcillo is out and there is no way Mayers plays on the 1st line. Bickell would be great...if he actually gave an effort because he has the skills necessary, but apparently he doesn't give a shit about that.

wait, but you are. you "pace" and ''projected"= same thing.

I care about age because he is BEHIND the 8 ball with Ladd and Versteeg. They are the SAME age, and what Versteeg and Ladd were doing during the championship run, stalberg was playing with the marlies and leafs not doing a whole lot of anything. so, with that said....ladd and steeger are ahead of the curve. so you 99 years old thing holds no water. try again.

talking about what he is doing right now? huh? vs what steeger and ladd where in the 10 season all being the same age? gluck getting out of this little bag your in.

-anyone that pursues a degree is going to be at your "disadvantage" when at the same age.

While Ladd and Versteeg were in the NHL pipeline, anyone playing college hockey during that same time -well, work it out...

In all seriousness, I'm sure you have an argument, just not that one.

are we using that as an excuse for a slower development than steeger and ladd? cant it be they are just better hockey players.

this is a convo about development and skill. lets take away salary for a moment. you gotta take 2 of 3 players from a fish bowl. what two do you take from the 3? easy question am i right?

It's no real use to say that Ladd>Stalberg and Versteeg>Stalberg.

Ladd and Versteeg are both better, and I hope people realize that.

Stalberg's doing a good job for the coin he's making, which isn't much money.

It's nice that cheap players like Stalberg, Shaw, and Hayes can fill in nicely with the core the Blackhawks have.

However, it is also Special person for a certain somebody (not Dews) to always ***** about how bad Stalberg is and how we should have kept Versteeg when there was no way in hell we could take that cap hit at the time. Not saying Stalberg is a better player (he most certainly isn't), but he has been nothing to ***** about, especially given the circumstances that brought him here and sent Versteeg packing.

Oh BTW, this season Stalberg has outproduced Ladd. Stalberg has been better than Ladd this season. Versteeg? No, he's better than Stalberg. Ladd? Yes, Stalberg is a better offensive player than he is.
