Interesting statiscal comparison between two Blackhawk players below:
Player A-played 116 games by age 24 and had 38 points
Player B-played 117 games by age 25 and had 38 points

Can you name those two players?

A- Sharp?
B- Stalberg?

That would be the two players, and before I get a ton of posts I am not implying that Stalberg is capable or likely to become Patrick Sharp. I just found it interesting how similar those numbers were at that point in their career.

But you brought up games played, so I broke it down? Now its back to season's. You calling me out in the season matter vs. games didn't work out for you?

26 does look bad for a prospect, but how many actually stay in school and finish instead of turning pro, let alone coming from another country?

:dunno:

time will tell. IMHO that is just an excuse, and a reach for something to hold onto.

i will make it so easy for you stalberg lovers

Past College/HC: Up and down, good years some bad. Inconsistent
Past 117 Games: (NHL) He has blown ass
Currently:We will see very soon

Potential is one of the most overused and misunderstood words in sports. potential doesnt=shoe in good athlete.

I understand what you mean, I was going to post something along the lines the same but didn't because then I would be told I was comparing player A and B when they shouldn't be?

oh here we go.

At least I didn't get a . I just found it interesting how close those numbers were at this point in their career. As I said in the post, I am not implying that Stalberg is capable or likely to become as good as Patrick Sharp. Just one of those funny stats that I figured out a while back.

i think dmelt posted that comparison already, and its a good one...

not all the good players are playing at their top level right away when they get to the NHL...Stalberg had to adjust to a new league and rink size...

ive played hockey on both rinks, and it definately is a difference between the olympic sized one and the NHL one

Really tbo?

Atleast Icehog brings an arguement and some data to this convo. That is just fodder, that really is just an excuse.

Oh and I love how you can tell the difference because you played on both rinks.

Excuse on what, if he didn't go to college he would have started professionally at 23, how is that an excuse? Why would I need this as an excuse?

Actually most guys from over seas say that. Igor Makarov said that was the biggest difference from the KHL to the AHL & NHL

there are a million comparisons you can do with athletes with small sample sizes that both careers go the opposite direction. I mean, just because their numbers were similar at the same age has ZERO to do with the player we are talking about.

I can just hear some of the meatballs now. "oh but he was just like sharp when he started out so he should turn out to be just like him"

Well, Patrick Sharp also played on a shitty team and Stalberg played on the defending cup team. So, it's not exactly the same, but I see your point.
