Yeah, they have their place in the world. And sometimes I don't want to drink a meal I just want a light beer so I'll get a 12 pack of miller light every now and then. Even better I'll have my pregnant wife pick one up just so she can see the look on the cashiers face.

Yeah but then she needs an unlit Marlboro in her mouth to complete it.

Makes sense, I just can't get over the taste. I guess I'm still a sissy when it comes to drinking beer.

Bavarian Lodge had a huge selection in Lisle, and The Tap House Grill in Oswego had a decent list.

Additionally, when comparing Bud Light/Miller, please compare them to buckets of chum.

I'm more looking for places selling Three Floyds to bring home... although thanks for the notes about who has it on Tap. It surprises me that my local Binny's doesn't offer more Three Floyds...

I think I'd rather drink a bucket of chum than those. Every time I've gone to Reggie's in the city it makes me laugh to see the Hipsters drinking Pabst cans when they have Dogfish Head on TAP.

Why would one want to?

I was introduced to beer this way and come to enjoy beer drinking Miller Lite. I still enjoy it. Especially on a hot summer day. Sometimes craft brews just don't work for me on those days. Give me an ice cold Miller Lite and I'm happy. With that said, I rarely drink them anymore and the only time they're ever in my fridge now is when my dad's in town.

Exactly.

That's why they're called "lawnmower beers."

They take the place of water, yet you're drinking calories.

I just like a bit of substance.

To each their own.

Occasionally I will head back to Indiana, which only serves mostly macro brews. My diet has restricted me on my beer intake, so when I do get a chance I try not waste it on macros.

The distribution in the Chicago 'burbs is frustrating. It varies county by county. You have to call each store to see what they carry.

I miss Sam's. They had a great selection.

Hell, I have a Woodmans by me that has a very decent beer selection.

The owner was going to cover the export taxes for New Glarus to have their beer shipped to that location, but New Glarus said no. Anyone who has had a chance to try New Glarus (Wisconsin) has had heaven poured into a glass to consume.

It is frustrating, which makes me wonder how Two Brothers gets around it, because I feel like it's everywhere (which is fine with me). For instance, with the popularity of Zombie Dust (which I still haven't tried), I figured Binny's would carry it. I talked to an employee and he was saying they usually only get a case or two of the special bottles, but none of the regular stuff (Gumball Head, etc.) - although I think the Meijer's by me carries it.

WAIT.... you go to Reggies? I've wanted to go there ever since I moved and just haven't. I think it's more about the unknown of the place and clientele... but if you go again, I'm in.

I fucking love New Glarus but can't figure out why they don't have it here, is taxes the issue? I don't get it.

I'm not 100% clear, but I believe there's a certain export fee they have to pay when shipping out of state.

I remember this when when one of my favorite California wineries decided to halt shipping to Illinois. They said it would make their product too expensive.

Only once in a great while... if I'm there again, I'll definitely let you know. Clientele can be a little hipstery and the service isn't great (but it's usually because there's only 1 waitress working the entire diner area) but the food, music and beers are worth a trip.

The GF and I are going to do a mini-Brewery tour in Wisconsin in Oct. Gonna hit up Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee, Capital Brewery in Madison and saved my WI favorite for last - New Glarus. Unless anyone here has any other places within that range they'd like to suggest.

I have a feeling I'll be coming home with a decent amount of New Glarus.

If you have time, we did the Sprecher Brewary in Milwaukee, it was a good one. And the store lets you make your own packages afterward, and they are all 16 oz bottles. 1-1.50 each. so worth it. Plus their soda's are awesome, we brought back a bunch of those. They have the normal tour, but then they also have a beer and cheese tour which is a little more, but much better, and well worth it. They make a lot of the cheeses there too and you can purchase them.

I thought about Sprecher as I'm a fan of their soda... but don't want to cram too much into the time frame. Might just have to make an audible when we get to that area... I like that you can make your own sixer.

I had a Three Floyds Brian Boru a few months ago with my burger at Kuma's. It was very nice. An old Irish red, with some killer piney hops rocking in it.

Granted, I am not a beer snob. But I do know that the big beers, Miller, Bud, Coors, aren't all that great. They will do in a pinch, but i would rather drink water. The only big beer i enjoy is a Guinness. I haven't had a Warstiener in a while, but that wasn't bad back a few years.

?Kolsch? THey are from Southwest MI? I thought they were Euro? Maybe I'm thinking of Grolsh or something else?

Yup! Y'ever get a chance, try one, not an overly hoppy beer but, but not a plain Jane by any stretch. Grolsch is a brewery in the Netherlands. Not bad beer either.
