Sam Adams new release of fall beers are pretty damn good, I've never had the pumpkin one and it tasted like the ginger bread man.

I liked last year's fall collection better. Their Irish Red and Black Lager are awesome. I hated that IPA that came with it this year. Tasted like I was drinking a plant. But that Hazzlenut Beer was delicious

i've heard great things about two brothers, I like revolution a lot, they are starting a new one just south of me here called Big Shoulders (Ex Goose guy I believe) and Half Acre doesn't have anything you can go to but the Wild Goose next door usually have theirs on tap. And it's still one of my favorite bars in town and last I knew still did 10 cent wings on Mondays. IHN Pub tour anyone?

Half Acre's Daisy Cutter is ALWAYS worth it. Love when I find a place that has it on tap... Fox and Hound typically does for the folks who live in the 'burbs.

Another local brewery, 5 Rabbit just had a very "summery" beer called 5 Lizard that was pretty fucking good. A good suggestion for fans of the shandy (while it has fruity elements please note, it is NOT a shandy).

I think for most of the this summer I relied on Two Brothers "Outlaw" IPA which is fan-fucking-tastic.

The top three are some of my favorites in their respected class, the pumpkin ale I've never had so I'll have to try it to confirm your suspicions.

My new diet really restricts my beer consumption, but I had the rare opportunity to enjoy a Three Floyd's Zombie Dust on tap on Saturday. A very fine beer I may add.

Kolsch is a style of German pale ale. (Damn it I can't figure out how to add special characters for the umlauts!)

Enjoyed a Three Floyd's Robert the Bruce last night.

Zombie Dust is much better, but Robert the Bruce was a nice dark.

I had the Blackheart by Three Floyds a while back and wasn't impressed. The artwork on the bottle was the best part of it. While I haven't had a lot of Three Floyds, what I have had has been "meh" - nothing spectacular, but definitely better than Miller/Bud Lite.

Also - not super easy to find in the suburbs.

Bavarian Lodge had a huge selection in Lisle, and The Tap House Grill in Oswego had a decent list.

Additionally, when comparing Bud Light/Miller, please compare them to buckets of chum.

That's because most Americans settle with the mediocre. See: Obama/Romney threads.

If you watch a beer commercial, see how often they actually discuss the beer. Most of the time it's a funny commercial with grossly average looking dudes paired up with model-looking females. A wonderful self esteem boost to people drinking carbonated piss called Coors.

One of the "light" beers claims that "it never fills you up." Yeah, on flavor.

Why would I want to consume 1-- or even multiple Bud/Miller/Coors/Pabst?

I remember when I was a kid I used to see the Busch commercials on television. There would be a man's man hiking in a dense forest with his buddies, and they would gather wood-- not sticks, but wood. They started fires with their man-ness, and probably killed bears with their hands, and built a cabin in the woods-- with electricity. At the end of the day as the sun would slowly be cloaked by the mountains, they pulled out a Busch and drank it. Somewhere a horse rose up on its hind legs to protest the event of these men finishing an awesome day by drinking shitty beer.

As I grew up I realized these men don't exist, only shells of these men that build bombs in bunkers, and go by the name of Ted, masturbating to a 1986 JC Penny's catalog, but still finding time to crack open a Busch beer.

Why would one want to?

I was introduced to beer this way and come to enjoy beer drinking Miller Lite. I still enjoy it. Especially on a hot summer day. Sometimes craft brews just don't work for me on those days. Give me an ice cold Miller Lite and I'm happy. With that said, I rarely drink them anymore and the only time they're ever in my fridge now is when my dad's in town.

Good point. I admit though they really focus on hops and I don't like hoppy beer. Hops are too bitter to me. Like I previously mentioned that Sam Adam's Latitude 48 IPA to me was too bitter and tasted like I was drinking a plant. All the mainstream beers are just too bitter to me. I actually am not a fan of Guinness either. So far my favorite beer is Sam Adams Black Lager. Though I admit I have not had a ton of different beers.

Yeah, they have their place in the world. And sometimes I don't want to drink a meal I just want a light beer so I'll get a 12 pack of miller light every now and then. Even better I'll have my pregnant wife pick one up just so she can see the look on the cashiers face.
