Thought I would revive this thread. Just got back from Three Floyds brewery. It was incredible, honestly I had the best beer I've ever had there: Arctic Panzer Wolf. I started with that, along the way I tried Zombie Dust, Live Life, and Dreadnaught. I wasn't disappointed with a single beer. Obviously from that selection you can tell I love IPA's.

What brewery should I hit up next? I've already been to Revolution (which was amazing) and Goose Island (which was good, but slightly disappointed, thought it would be better).

Two Brothers has both a brew pub in Warrenville and they took over Walter Payton's Roundhouse in Aurora. Huge fan of their Bitter End and Resistance (which is an IPA).

i've heard great things about two brothers, I like revolution a lot, they are starting a new one just south of me here called Big Shoulders (Ex Goose guy I believe) and Half Acre doesn't have anything you can go to but the Wild Goose next door usually have theirs on tap. And it's still one of my favorite bars in town and last I knew still did 10 cent wings on Mondays. IHN Pub tour anyone?

I've been trying to arrange a quick trip to 3 Floyds for awhile now. But it is 2 hours away from me. I just want to get a case of Gumballhead and have a couple pints.

I really liked the panzer wolf.

I'm not sure about an IHN pub hop, but I will likely be at the Map Room most of the afternoon of 6-23 before the Dream Theater show.

They ALWAYS have alpha king on tap.

MAP ROOM! I am so in! It is a brisk walk from my pad!

I love that joint...

I would also like to mention it is close to an awesome after hours joint that is not full of scary people, unless 80 year old women who own the joint doing shots of Jager and Diet Coke are scary. Best jukebox in the city...

I used to live right by the Map Room.

Great spot to grab a couple.

Just tried Stone Ruination over the weekend.

Very good.

Map Room ain't too bad from the blue line too, could be a little dicey drunk and late at night but should be fine, that neighborhood I don't really have a problem with but that station I don't like.

Which Blue Line Station? Western?

Never really had an issue on any of the Blue Line Stations.

You have to watch the shelters on the California stop at times-- usually there will be a few drunks using it as a toilet, but nothing major.

I took a huge beer dump after going to the Map Room at the McDonalds right by the station.

it was McEpic.

Easy easy bus from station to Map room and back (about 1 mile away), and at the station?! 24 hour burritos... Need. I. Say. More.

I have been around there for...um... 3 - 4 years now. I can understand concern. It isnt a BAD neighborhood per se, but I dont have chickies walking around by themselves at night. But personally I have had no issues. I always like my neighborhoods a bit dirty...

HAPPY DAY! 3 Floyd's is scouting locations for a chicago brew pub. No details other than no loop. Sloop would be awesome and a great location in motor row but I fear what is there now will scar them off. Nothing.

Stone Ruination is good for everything.

The Three Floyds news is fucking awesome if true. And why ***** about nothing being around there? They are currently in an industrial park for ****'s sake.

edit, an industrial park in Indiana. No to go sales on Sundays, stupid blue laws.

so over the weekend I wandered from my tried and true Sam Adams Fall beers.

Had a Rochefort 10 Tappist Ale - Expensive as balls but was delicious. It is also 18oz (or whatever size it was) of instant drunk.

Had Unibroue Maudite - Pretty damn tasty. To me it tasted better sipped and not drank in big mouthfuls.

Had Angry Orchard Hard Apple Cider - It was like apple juice with a boozey taste on the end. They go down easy.

And now we come to Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale. It reminds me of the canadian joke about what does sex in a canoe and american beers have in common? Its fucking close to water. That's how this ale was too me. The first swallow is pumpkin and spices and the rest tastes like dirty water. was very disappointed in it.
