I had a Banana Bread beer. It was delicious.

Did you finish it? Last time I had one it felt like I ate a whole fucking loaf of banana bread. Tasty stuff though.

I've never heard of that but it sounds tasty.

I recommend giving it a whirl. It is on the pricey side, at about 5 bucks or so a bottle, but for a nice treat, a good price.

It is filling, no doubt, but I did.

Thought I might bring back this thread, currently having a bottle of Ranger IPA and it's pretty good. Also Three Floyds Pride And Joy is pretty damn good, smoothest Ale I've ever had.

I'm not a fan of the Ranger - just didn't ring my bell like other IPA's have.

As far as IPA's go, I've been digging Half Acre's Daisy Cutter (which I'm actually surprised so many local bars have had on tap) and Two Brother's Resistance.

Outside of IPA's, Lagunitas' Little Sumpin' Sumpin' is fucking amazing. Great beer - cirtusy without being sweet and full of hoppy goodness.

Don't imbibe much anymore. Had a Guiness draft the other day and it was the cats meow. Also had some Boddinton's Pub ale that was quite good.
Guinnes and Boddington's are always my go-to beers when nothing else sounds good but I want something that I know will deliver. One is more-than-likely to always find 1 or the other in my fridge (cans when I can, for some reason I prefer them over the bottles).

Had a couple Goose Island Sofies tonight.

Interesting for sure. Every bottle in 4 pack was a gusher.

I wonder if it is the yeast they use or the batch or what.

Pretty tasty though.

Looking at their beer list, I am saddened to see their oatmeal stout and nut brown ale discontinued.

Those 2 were doorways for me into different beer styles.

I still fondly remember that fine summer morning I had my 1st oatmeal stout.

I like Sofies and Matildas. Never had them gush on me though.

Ladies? I thought we were talking about gushers?

I've heard the Spider-man ones are filled with his "special" web fluid

To get back OT - I had a "Euphoria Pale Ale" from Ska Brewery last night that wasn't too bad... don't know if I'd buy another sixer, but it was a nice change of pace.

My buddy is exploring creating his own small batch brewery for friends and family and such so right now he's in the practice fun stage making batches for people. He hooks me up with a 22 of each batch . last two was a Saison which I felt was too wheaty and had a strange bitter aftertaste, but wasn't too bad. And a Chocolate Chipotle Porter which had too much chipotle for my taste and was overpowering. Still in the testing stages and is a lot of fun to get some good small batch stuff. Next drop-off is going to be a pumpkin ale and Belgo IPA. Shoudl be interesting. I hope it takes off would love to get in on the ground floor.

Awesome!

Encourage your friend!

My advice would be to master at least a pale ale recipe (or brown ale) before moving to pumpkin ale. (maybe because I hate pumpkin)

Now that I am pain free and likely able to lift 5 gallons of liquid, I am looking to start another batch of apfelwein.

I have been away from brewing for far too long. Nice easy apfelwein would be a good easing back in.

Besides, now that I will be a day shift guy (for at least a bit), I can put it all in my tap-a-draft mini kegs, and throw one motherfucker of a party in the parking lot some Friday.

Oh, and help out on brew day to learn about (and drink) beer. Be sure to toss extra hops into the boil when he isn't looking.

Here it is:

Make some of this and prepare to make friends.

Maybe even some enemies, my friend's wife has declared that apfelwein shall never enter her house again after her husband did not follow my advice.

If he needs additional taste-testers, I would gladly offer my services... especially when it comes to IPA's....
