Was listening to the last inning on ESPN radio after coming home from the local ball park. Very exciting.

So are the Cards starting to collapse? 0-11 vs the Reds? WTF?

They haven't really slumped all year. Every team goes through a stretch.

Pirates: L 3-9, W 4-1, L 1-7
Cubs: L 0-9, L 5-8, Win 4-3
Reds: L 0-11, L 2-4, L 2-4, L 1-5. 1 more game vs them Sunday.

It is getting pretty bad.

Not bad enough however.

Good thing the Cardinals built up their lead from the word GO, as St Louis' schedule is rather soft from here on out, and they will squeak by. Pittsburgh has a tough schedule from here on out, and I almost wish they would hammer the Cubs to inch even closer to the Cardinals. That is how much I despise them, and I would rather play 1 game in St Louis and a best-of-five game series against the Pirates, rather than the other way around.

Just think. Not to mention the other games the Cubs blew against the Cardinals earlier this year, just that last one a few days ago would have meant that now, the Cubs would be 3-1/2 games back, and Pittsburgh a 1-1/2 back.

My, oh my.

Good job Brett05. Way to make Jeff into Edwin Jackson.

Samardzija has almost gotten to the point where your boys will need to think long and hard about that QO. If I'm Shark I take it hoping to rebuild value in 2016 and I'm certain the Sox don't want that.

Shark is good for eating innings. You can pretty much lock him in for 200 per year.

I could see the Yanks giving him a deal.

He fits on a cellar team that is just looking to soak innings with out much care about the record. He would pretty much be the staff leader on a team like that. That is where he would get to best check

Now knowing him he wants to be on a contender. That means he is a #4 starter and would have to take less cash.

He has a market but not one that he would be pleased with.

My issue with him is he lacks a breaking pitch. He uses a cutter instead. That with a split. I've never really been a fan of guys that lack a breaking pitch.

The Brewers will announce today the hiring of Houston Assistant GM David Stearns to be their new GM. Stearns is a 30 year old Harvard grad wiz kid and in my opinion is an inspired choice. I'd expect a Chicago/Houston style rebuild commencing immediately but they do have some talent in the already n the minors. Should be interesting to watch. The rumor had been that they were previously looking at Ben Cherington but they weren't close on money.
