Big gym rat here.

Anybody have any off the wall routines for shoulders?

I do barbell and dumbbell military press.
Front shoulder raises
Shrugs
Side Pulls

Anything else that you do that is effectice

I've found that shoulder workouts are most effective when you stay away from real heavy weight/lots of rest between sets in favor of moderate weight/fast-paced training. I do a lot of volume but get it over relatively quickly. It looks something like this

3 sets seated or standing barbell press
3 sets seated dumbell press. I concentrate on flexing the rear debts on these to make sure they are hit
3 sets bent over flys. Palms facing behind me to concentrate on rear delts better
3 giant sets of front, side, & bent over flys with light dumbells. This sucks...hard...but works
Finish off with some kettlebell front raise/squat combo or work the giant rope.

if I do this properly I will hardly be able to raise my arms for a few days

my body was improving rapidly on my intense interval program balanced around complimentary muscles doing old school arnold once a week in juxtaposition to dynamic sprints in jumping/hill/swim/bike form and one endurance day of running and one of hiking.

But I had to go chainsaw for a month in northern california for cash, about 1/3-1/2 depending on what else I find of a year salary for me in a month. My body slid a bit from the marathon work everyday, chronic tendinitis issues from chainsawing since 13 years old, and the like....I need a month of rest and then get back to workouts. Scapula tearing a bit, achilles sore, right ac joint, and of course both elbows on both sides.

I seriously can't believe people pay 80-90 dollars a month to bang with a hammer, move tires, pick up a fucking keg and move it to the other side of the parking lot.. And literally have the worst form of all time in pull ups. I can't stop laughing at Crossfit people. Creepiest cult fad...Ever.

No fucking shit. I don't consider my program to be "CrossFit," but I would estimate that if I walk into any CrossFit gym the vast majority of members are in the top 10% of the population fitness wise. Plus it gets groups like soccer moms to lift actual weights instead of walking on a stair machine or elliptical for an hour...

The whole form issue is overblown. I was at my box today doing a workout with two instructors screaming about proper form throughout the workout. The three other boxes I've been to have stressed/preached the same thing.

Am I to believe I found the only four boxes that stress form, or is that a 'cult-wide' approach?

People apply what they see on YouTube and ESPN uniformly to all CrossFit without any firsthand experience. The shit is on YouTube because its usually hilariously bad and during a competition you are going to take some liberties with form if it gives you better placement an possible a quarter million dollar payday. I would take a run of the mill CrossFitter's knowledge of proper movement and mechanics over some bro doing bicep curls and leg extensions any day of the week. Shit, most competent coaches start people with PVC until they can properly do the movement. How many dudes in the gym do you see load up the bar with a bunch of weight and proceed to do half rom bench presses or squats? The positives that CrossFit has brought to the general populations understanding of fitness completely outweigh the minute negatives.

Truth. I was not allowed to do any type of Oly lift without first passing a class, and doing it with PVC. And honestly, my overhead squat is much more important to me than doing fucking bicep curls in a mirror.

Hahaha another fitness fade like Tao Boe and Jane Fonda. It's overpriced and overhyped garbage. You can learn the same stuff following gymnastics workouts which are harder and I'm sure I can use my buddies empty keg if I wanna run around in a parking lot. Shit, I'll grab a hammer and tire too.

I'm not giving crossfit shit for no reason. I'm giving it shit for the lame ass socks, creepy culture and using these huge plates as if they are heavy ass weight; when in truth they are 10 lbs. lolz

The point is that, given the current state of US society, Tae Bo and Jane Fonda workouts would be a vast improvement. CrossFit has essentially made actual workouts (in spite of what you might think they are) popular to groups that would have likely never performed a back squat, push press, power clean, etc. if they weren't introduced to CrossFit. If you think hammering a tire with a sledgehammer or running around with a keg is the epitome of CrossFit...then you are a bigger idiot than the KoolAid drinkers in their knee socks.

Regarding the last sentence...you do understand the purpose of bumper plates right?
