No NIT For the Crusaders.

"We just need to get better. The NIT would have been a great tournament for this team, but our lack of quality wins prevented us from competing in the NIT."- Coach Polley

Dee Goens To Transfer.

Sources close to the situation have confirmed redshirt freshman point guard Dee Goens will not be at Holy Cross this upcoming season. Goens has not made a decision on where he will be transferring to. Coach Polley has already targeted 3-star 7'0 Center Leon Mason and 3-Star PG Levar Calloway to fill the empty spot.

I'm a Crusader!

Leon Mason nor Levar Calloway will be taking Goens scholarship spot. Instead Morgan Newsom a 6'10 Center out of Flint, Michigan will fill the spot. Holy Cross snuck in late on this top 120 prospect and came away with a score. "I'm a Crusader, in a short time I built a great relationship with Coach Polley. We will have an NCAA tournament team next season. I plan to be at Holy Cross for three seasons before I turn pro." Newsom is Holy Cross's biggest recruiting signing since current Crusader star Andrew Keister signed his LOI almost 4 1/2 years ago."This proves we can compete with the big boys for recruits." said Polley of his newest commitment. Newsom was also considering Michigan, Michigan State and Seton Hall.

Holy Cross Wins Home Opener

Holy Cross defeated Louisana-Monroe by a final score of 85-75 on Thursday night. "It was great way to start the season", R.J Evans stated after the game. Coach Polley had this to say after Thursday night's game. "We came out a bit sluggish in the first half, but came out firing on all cylinders in the second half. We showed a lot of toughness and grit in that first half. Even though there are many things we still need to work on as a team, the coaches and I are very please with how well the team played in the first game. As a team we are very different from last season, as it is very noticeable now that we have a three-guard line-up, something we didn't do last season, but as a cohesive unit, we are the same as last season. Which is a good thing, this team already has a strong chemistry flow and the bonds between the players are great, and they worked unbelievably hard in the preseason practices." Not only has the look of the team changed, but apparently so has Coach Polley. Like this year's basketball team, there is a noticeable difference with him as well, when speaking in the media Coach Polley has really turned it down a bit with his outbursts and calling out of other teams. Only time will tell to see if he can keep this up.

--Coach Polley's head assistant coach, chs234 was the man in charge tonight, and will be for the next 3 games while Coach Polley is serving the suspension he was given last season. Coach Polley sits across from the team bench on the other side of the court.

Holy Cross Starts Season Red Hot; NIT Final Apperance

With easy wins over Mount St. Mary's and UNC Greensboro in the first two games of the NIT Pre-Season Tournament, the Crusaders of Holy Cross were much more challenged in there semi-final game in Madison Square Garden against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, a Big 12 opponent. Holy Cross trailed 24-16 early in the game but roared back to lead by 1 at the half 37-36. Holy Cross began the second half they way the ended the first. On fire. Clicking in all phases of the game, Holy Cross went on a 7-0 run, forcing Nebraska to use a time-out. The time-out did indeed stop the Crusader run, but that was all it did. The game remained the same pace the rest of the way. Nebraska couldn't get the defensive stop when they needed to and obviously exchanging baskets was no help either. In Holy Cross's first ever game at the Garden, they came out victors by the final score Holy Cross 68, Nebraska 59. Andrew Keister led all scorers with 26 and R.J Evans added 18. Freshman Morgan Newsom recorded his second double-double of the young season. Now the Crusaders find themselves in the championship game against the Racers of Murray State, Friday night on ESPN2 at 8PM.

Holy Cross Get Out Raced by the Racers

In the last highly anticipated game under Coach Polley for Holy Cross, it ended in a loss in the conference semi's. The next most highly anticipated game before that was 2 games earlier, when our Crusaders lost at the buzzer to Lehigh. This time it was just a new chapter, same tale. The Crusaders lost a heart-breaking defeat to Murray State in a game which the Crusaders led all the way until the 1:42 mark when the Racers nailed a three on the break to put them up for good. There were some light positives coming out of this game though, freshman Morgan Newsom recorded more than just your normal double-double tonight, he ended with 24 points and 16 rebounds. Newsom provided the main scoring punch for the Crusaders the entire second-half as they were constantly clinging to one and two point leads. Coach CHS had to say this after the game "I did a terrible job tonight, put this one on me." Every other member of the team refused to speak to the media, the Athletic Director did have a brief statement, "Here at the University we are very proud of what the boys accomplished, they played a great tournament."

yes yes. the recruiting budget is so damn small at Holy Cross. Unless they improve it i am out after next season, because i will have a solid team next season too, should get me some bigger job openings hopefully.
