I get what 51 is saying, but some of their deep tracks rock. Anyway, this all personal opinion.

Well I do too but he is being a jerk. I've seen the Guess Who and also Burton Cummings over a dozen times combined. Read a book about them and probably know as much about them as anyone. To say BC was never a rocker is pettiness and ignorance. BC rocked so hard with The GW he left nothing on the table. He also partied like a rock star those years. BC famously said he never got a good nights sleep before he hit 30. RB was straight and a Mormon convert. It's why he left the band after they hit number 1 with American Woman.

BC quit the GW after 10 years with the band. .51 man thinks it was a brief time. He actually quit because the latest guitarist was too jazzy and he didn't like the direction of the group.A 30 year old BC sang different than when he was 20. All those years of hard singing and partying took a toll. He had to write and sing songs that were more compatible for him. Plus he didn't have a guitar partner to collaborate anymore. Nothing shameful with that. Age gets the best of them.

I like the Guess Who

Me too, I like them a lot.

But the question is, where do you rank Burton Cummings among the singers of that era?

Same, I have no issues with the guess who, they have some great songs (no sugar tonight one of my fav guess who songs). I tend to lump them in with bands like CCR.

100% agree, The Guess Who had some great songs, Randy Bachman wrote some good music, I've always enjoyed his work.

Burton Cummings is a light rock pussy, these two things can both be true. There are so many examples of different members of a band not liking the same music, they call it artistic differences, it happens all the time. The best way to see this is listen to the music they make after the split. In this case of Randy Bachman he continued to make Rock & Roll music, and Burton Cummings went in a very different musical direction, elevator music. Albert Flasher seems to enjoy elevator music, he should own that fact and stop trying to deny what Cummings himself has accepted, soft rock/light rock. It's not Rock & Roll, Cummings left The Guess Who because he dosen't enjoy that kind of music, I can continue to post videos of Burton preforming the music he likes, I hope that's not necessary.

Burton Cummings stopped pretending to be a Rocker 40 years ago, let it go Albert, stop being ashamed of the music you like.

I'm not ashamed at all. Followed his career and accepted his path. I'm not denying anything other than the truisim that he was a hell of a rocker in his youth. Again RB was a guitarist. BC was a pianist. And his voice got weaker. He had to do what he had to do. No shame in that. Plus he did what he loved all his life. He says he never worked a day in his life. How many can say that?

i worded the previous post wrong. I deny that BC never rocked. Also after RB left BC and the Guess Who had many other hits while RB had success with BTO. So .51 ironically proves his point. They both had success after the split. BC in the GW and RB in BTO. About the time BC went solo RB left BTO and never had much success after that. BC did have some moderate success. Figure that.

Also posting videos of an aging singer in his 60's and 70's to somehow say see I told you so is Special person. Proves nothing. BC plays in Vegas all the time and his concerts are amazing. I've been to some the last few years. He sounds great and the buzz is awesome. Everyone has a great time. We just don't pass joints around anymore. As a matter of fact I'm going to seem him again in April.

Not going to share my Top 5 lol. The music I go back to reminds me of my parents and the good times they had with other family members.

I will say at least one Gordon Lightfoot song is on there.

You are The Hawk level triggered, calm down man. Playing Vegas? Orleans Showroom Orleans Hotel & Casino :lmao:

Just like Cher and Celine Dion.

So playing Orleans Showroom, Orleans Hotel & Casino is proof that Cummings is a bad ass Rock & Roller? He has accepted the fact that he is a soft rock pussy, you should do the same Albert.

Give it up little man. Last time I saw him in Vegas I hooked up with a fellow fan. Might see her again.

Back on topic.
This is impossible for me so I am limiting it to progressive rock epics.

So you've completely abandoned your attempt to convince me that Burton Cummings is a Rock & Roller, good call, that was a nonstarter. You've changed the argument to: he plays way off strip Vegas nothing venues, and you banged a fat drunk chick you met at one of Cummings light rock pussyfests.

No gripe there, we agree, happy hunting at the next super sensitive tear filled 'concert'. When he goes to "These Eyes" you tell that chunker "Burton wrote this about you", deal sealed!
