In 2018, most everyone here was saying Kwit was slow and couldn't cover......but now, after a few good games, he's suddenly a must sign? Nice player, but a backup......

He lost a lot of body fat this season, and it showed.

He seemed faster on tape. If cap was not an issue I'm sure the bears would have stuck with Kwiat, but considering it is....

per Brad Biggs - "Bears have re-signed Trevathan, who was set to be an unrestricted free agent Wednesday, to a three-year contract. One source said the deal can total $24 million."

All that matters is the guaranteed cash.

Pack letting Blake Martinez go to sign Kwit to a big deal?

We can only hope... And I'd sign Martinez right after

I agree. He'll go somewhere else, and we won't hear much about him again. I like that fact that we resigned Trevathan...we'll see the terms soon.

It makes it more imperative to simply sign free agents that have been cut or trade for vets with late round picks. Don't fuck up the comp picks Pace!

Kwit is gone. Wish Bears would have went with him, but understand the cap situation played a part in that. Should get a nice comp pick back I guess.
This and I bet they asked Kwit 1st.

If Kwit will expect or market will pay him a ton, then it's a no brainer to let him go. He played hella better for his spell last season than previously, but is not a top tier LB.

Trav is a proven leader and productive center cog in that D. At even money for 2-3 years, I prefer Trav.

Comp pick all depends on the deal another team pays Kwit. + gotta lose more than bring in. Not that hard.

And old and always injured. I would have preferred to have kept N. Kwiat (not that it was a one-or-other scenario).

Kwiatkowski’s 2019 tape was phenomenal. That’s ultimately what matters, and that’s why he will likely get a nice deal. He dominated in a couple of those games.

Just because a player sucked in a game or two early in their careers does not sentence them to backup status for the rest of their careers. If you asked me right now who’s the better player, Floyd or Kwiatkowski, I’d choose Kwiatkowski.

All that being said, the Bears likely made the right choice in keeping the cheaper player. They need to heavily invest in the offense, either by getting a new QB or building up every other facet of the offense to mask the current QB’s deficiencies. Kwiatkowski is a luxury they cannot afford. Same goes for Floyd.

I wonder with all the money tied up in Smith, DT and Mack if this increases the likelihood of moving from Floyd and his $13m
hope so, i figure they let both nick and danny walk and possibly cut Floyd. i'm feeling a bit good about floyd's incoming cut now. so they keep danny and worry about one less hole on the roster.

Ridiculous more like it.

Hopefully the packers are actually interested. Would love to have him take up over 40% of their available cap.
or the packers fooled Pace? making the bears jump the gun and settle for Danny (danny as a player which is no problem to me) but maybe Pace wants to keep both.
