A little harsh don't you think. Weren't you the one who said in a post recently that Niemi had moved down several notches in your book based on what he's done to the Hawks this offseason? How is that any different than me saying I'm ticked with him too and would boo his ass?
Take a moment and think about it...listen to what you are saying. you are going to sit at a game and boo someone that helped you win a cup...that makes you sound like person that did not go far in school.
I refuse to boo Niemi, Ladd, Versteeg, Eager, Frasier, Byfuglien, Madden, Burish, or anyone else that was on our team unless they pull a Wiz and cheapshot one of our players.

Say what you will about Niemi's decision, but either he thinks that He has been made immortal with his name on the Grail, and now wants the payday, or Zito put that idea in his head.

Turco is more valuable at 1.3M than Niemi is at 2.75. And that's not maligning Niemi at all. He proved he was good enough and made the saves he needed to. I wish him the best of luck with his future endeavours and will cheer him unless he decides to do the McSorely Manoeuver on Kane.
Niemi is the only one I would boo from this chamionship squad. The other eight guys who have left will always be held in high regard for me.

Why? They could have all signed for less and stayed... so why is Niemi any different?

Again, you may be right, but I'll be very happy with anything north of 100pts. I doubt there are favorable odds in Vegas for us to get back to 110+ and I think I would take the under on that bet right about now. I just don't know what the Stalberg's, Visnievskiy's, Skille's, Lalonde's and Leddy's of the world are going to give to this team next year to predict another 112 point season.
I think they could be better this coming season than last. they were 9-1 last year. They could be 5-1 this year.

We'll see. The Defense is almost identical minus Sopel.

I won't even go that far, because we have several guys (and several more after this year) that have moved on since winning the cup and I wouldn't boo any of them no matter what because they all did what was best for them on the business side of the deal. If they would have held out and been jackass and took advantage of something or someone underhandedly, then it's different than a player taking advantage of every available option to him to make sure he's put in the best position available as both a player and a businessman.

Now, having said that, Niemi failed miserably to come out with the best deal here and I blame his agent squarely.

Because, quite simply, Ron would never boo any member of this team that contributed to its first Cup win in 49 years. Its a terrible thing to say that you would do so, given you don't know what advice (or lack thereof) he was given in this whole thing.
Sorry if I upset anyone but I'm pretty ticked about how this went down. Niemi had a chance to keep this thing together and sign a cap friendly deal and chose not to. That bothers me. Perhaps when I calm down and put my emotions aside I'll ease up on Niemi. But right now I'm mad.

...and if Byfuglien at some time decides to Bertuzzi Hossa?

I think everyone else's point here is that because Neimi decided to try and get his payday now isn't reason to boo him. How many people would boo Bobby Hull for defecting to the WHA?

Why would he sign for 500k less than even an arbitrator said he was worth?

Chelios is a different beast all together, he was on record as saying he hated Detroit and would never go there, then hmm... what happen? I don't boo him because personally he was one of my favorites, but I understand people that don't like him for different reasons.

I mean looking at the top lines, defense, defensive forwards, 3 now great centers IMO, and its seems people can't accept it but... BETTER goaltending, Q no longer is a good coach who can't win it all. There's so many points about this off-season that I have loved, this is one of them. Turco is a damn good goalie, with the overall team defense he will be VERY VERY good. We are the defending champs and an elite team still. One thing I am hoping for is opposing teams thinking that were not as good, cause once again I don't see the UC as a place were we lose more than 10 games.

Versteeg and Buff had large contracts already in place. They were not up for new deals and therefore they had to get dealt to make cap room. Not even close to Niemi's situation.

I'm pissed at Ben Fritz! he put on a show for Hawks fans solely cuz his office is located here. He never truly expected or wanted to stay otherwise he wouldnt have demanded so much.Niemi got his ring and now Fritz wanted him to get paid.Turco will play just find behind our D. and just think turco being one of the best puck movers catching opposing d men changing as kane or sharp or Hossa fly up the boards on a break away.

There is absolutely 0 chance that when they signed their contracts they didn't know what it meant for the future. They knew they were going to be forcing someone to move eventually, they just didn't realize at the time that it meant all of them.

Nice first post.

Yea not to mention anytime Niemi skated out of the crease my hair stood up, Niemi was pretty awful at handling the puck. Turco has mastered it. Obviously all goalies will have ****-ups, someone find a youtube of Turco mishandling the puck leading to a goal. But really, its gonna be fun to watch.

I'm ok with that if it's slim pickens for him out there, it's not like the old days anymore...
Thanks Stan!
Damn, I thought we all finally agreed that the contracts were McD's fault for screwing up the QO's?
