Really? It's been reported SEVERAL TIMES that the Flyers offered him well over 2 mil. No demand? You sure?

You read or follow anything here? Yikes!
You didn't read my post nor my response before you posted this. I said "for the most part". One offer from Philly doesn't mean a lot of demand for a player.

Just curious, now that he's a UFA can the Hawks still negotiate with him or is he not allowed to sign with the Hawks?

If they can, is it feasible that maybe Niemi doesn't get the offers he thought and then comes back and says hay, I want to play in Chicago after all? Then we have an awesome 1/2 combo.

For the record, I highly doubt that would ever happen. I'm just curious if it's possible.

BS.. it must have been a huge pain in the ass negotiating with Zito....and the hawks will be at the top of the Western Conference again...so had they signed Niemi..he'd likely have 40+ wins... around 10 shutouts.... ect..... so he'd be looking for a huge payday.. Zito knows this... .. see ya Niemi... sucks though.
So hit him with a nice long term front loaded deal to lower the cap hit like we've done with everyone else, he gets his payday Zito is happy and we get a goalie for awhile.

Well, since Turco's save percentage was better than Niemi's - while appearing in 14 more games and facing 669 more shots in those 14gms - whats to say he shouldnt get 40+ wins....and around 10 shut outs?

So why would the Hawks choose to just walk away rather than doing a sign and trade and getting something in return for Niemi?

I thought with the arbitrator's decision, that's what Niemi gets paid no matter where he goes? (although maybe that was with a "sign and trade")

No one will prob trade, knowing if they wait a few hours, they can just negotiate with him.

Nothing's to say that won't happen. Being the offensive juggernaut that he is, what is the O/U on amount of assists involving Campbell or Keith?

Right...the stupid. They'd been at the cap, needing to fill the roster with 1 Dman and 1 forward - just to hit 20. Let me know how many teams travel with a roster of 20 for 82 games.

Only the Special person don't understand that....wait, thats not fair to retards. What do you think, they'd move Kopecky's 1.2mil to fill it with 800K - yeah, that 400K would've done wonders to fill 2 roster spots.
21 man roster with 650K in cap space can be done. Not necessarily recommended.

The leap to signing Niemi means bye to Sharp should only be done by those mathematically challenged.

Sounded like they tried to set up a sign and trade and I guess there just weren't any offers. Sounds like teams that wanted him would take there chance that they could get him on the open market.

I hope you're right but admittedly I'm nervous about this guy. Watching him last year give up easy goal after easy goal had me scratching my head. Can't blame the D for those softies.

No, almost positive he's a UFA now.

Yeah, I'm thinking that would have been the case with a sign and trade deal.

I'm still trying to decide if thats a good thing for Niemi. Will a team offer more than 2.2 million the Blackhawks reportedly offered him or more than 2.75 million?

Are the Blackhawks doing him a favor by letting him become an UFA?

Will be interesting to see where and for how much Niemi signs.
