When it comes to the Kane situation there are several parts that matter.
1) There is a 92-98% chance that Kane raped the girl, or the girl at least believes she was raped. Anytime a woman submits to a rape kit, which is incredibly invasive, the stats show that the accusations are generally true.
2) Even with the said above stat, I am not claiming he is guilty, BUT!!!! He has been in several other incidents like this before (obviously not as severe). So history just is not on his side.
3) With that above history, it is more than reasonable for any business to consider if it is going to be a huge risk keeping him. Sure when he is playing he is a top 5 player in the NHL. But you have to ask yourself as a GM, will he be playing? The answer to that is very difficult to predict. And not making the right choice or waiting to long can hamstring this team cap wise for a long time.
4) All of this can go away, because history has shown it likely will (with some settlement), and Kane and the Hawks will go about their merry way.
5) If this does happen again, then it means there is a massive PR hit for the Hawks, they are saddled with a massive contract, and the team has to deal with huge distractions that will likely derail any season and any Cup attempt.
