Looks like the civil case will be underway soon now that the criminal case is falling apart.

The funny thing is even if there was some broad conspiracy that succeeded in intercepting the "evidence bag" and tampering with it, that would immediately nullify its value in ANY future criminal proceedings against Kane. So unless they are now going to attempt to prove that Kane himself was the mastermind of this conspiracy, he walks scott free either way.

If there was no conspiracy, the evidence vindicates him. If there WAS one that succeeded in gaining access to the evidence, said evidence now becomes absolutely useless due to massive chain of custody failure since it's been tampered with. Either way the potential prosecution case just suffered a mortal injury.

Then you were not watching clear enough. First off all that the lawyer claimed was delivered was an empty "evidence bag", not a rape kit. From which he is now implying is proof that there was a conspiracy to intercept and alter the DNA evidence which exonerated Kane and found the semen of two other men in her.

You should look up how chain of custody works in a case like this to see just how desperate, laughable, and ludicrous an allegation like this is. Every cop that had custody of the evidence is forced to sign for an accept responsibility for it as long as it is in their custody, then pass it on to the next who does the same thing etc. So the last cop to have access to it is always known. Which leaves even the more outlandish theory that the DNA lab itself had to have then been in on the conspiracy also.

Now we are expected to believe Kane is not only a rapist, but now a criminal mastermind, a whitey bulger of hockey able to corrupt and infiltrate both the police department and forensics testing lab and replace incriminating evidence. Why are we expected to believe all this? Because a known sleazebag lawyer and his now discredited client claim it so. And heaven forbid we use our brains to actually critically take a look at the ever more astounding accusations rather than blindly sticking to some forced neutrality.

These claims have now become so bizarre that they have jumped the shark. And yet some people still insist that we treat the fact that 2 days after news leaks that Kane's DNA was not found on the accuser but two other men's was, her lawyers call a press conference with some evidence bag song and dance implying someone has tampered with it with actual credulity.

There was even a point in the presser where he held up some part of the evidence and the accuser's name was visible, which means everyone is going to know her identity now.

This is what I thought as well. It's the empty bag that carried the evidence, right? SO the bag had to be ripped open and test the kit. And I assume the bag that carries it simply gets thrown away. Some idiot could just pick that out of the garbage and deliver that empty bag

They now seem to have thrown in the towel on the criminal case, but this whole circus about the evidence bag is an attempt to get the DNA evidence thrown out in any coming civil case. After all, if you accuse someone of rape in a civil trial and there is official DNA evidence showing no rape took place, that's the end of that money grab before it even begins.

At this point all I can say is go back and rewatch the conference. You have fundamental flaws in your recollection of it that have distorted your views and make further discussion pointless.

The rape kit was not delivered. An empty bag was. We can keep going back and forth with "yes it was no it wasn't" but that seems pointless so I'll just end it. The rest of your interpretation and conclusions of the conference are as as flawed as your misunderstanding about the evidence bag.

Hopefully over the coming days as more reports come out and it becomes apparent everyone is reporting that a bag was delivered and not the evidence itself, it'll prompt you to go back and see what else you got wrong. Details matter, especially when you have lawyers running around intentionally trying to muddy the waters and confuse people and imply things without saying. You are playing right into their hands and to be quite honest, if you are honestly going to tell the rest of us that, having watched that entire press conference, you believe that the lawyer was not implying that the DNA evidence was tampered with, then we have moved into disingenuous territory.
