Related to this - I just found my N64... I have everything but the controllers - for some reason I don't remember where I put them. Also realized I need to find a cheap copy of MarioKart 64.

I recommend Twisted Metal for PS2. It's got a really cool coop mode (2 players) too.

Finished Assassins Creed 3.

Story: Good.

Gameplay: Better than its ever been, updated combat system, some really cool stuff.

Quests: New "Naval Mode" theres Naval missions where you captain a ship and engage in naval combat, blowing shit up, boarding ships etc.

Unless you are a completionist, you can ignore 90% of the side quests(challenges), can be ignored, In this one a new outfit is all you get for completing them. Although, the Captain Kidds treasure line is worth it, you get a nice little trinket.

Overall though, it sucks you dont get any weapons for completing the challenges.

Not a fan of the "business mode" (you basically become the mayor of a town with different craftsmen and have them craft shit and send out convoys to make money) Too micromanaged for a game about killing shit. The hunting aspect is neat.

Not really a spoiler,

But this installment does conclude Desmonds story....But it isn't the end of the overall story.

This is why I am not buying this one, at least not anytime soon. I'm so tired of the series never really progressing anywhere. I bet they'll have two more glorified expansions before the next one comes out. I'm glad they concluded desmonds story but after taking basically 5 games of puzzles to do so it got tiresome. I'm sure the game play itself is much better, but I just can't get past the idea of finishing yet another one of these games and being totally unfulfilled and thinking that the whole point of it was to make me buy the next one when it comes out.

They got rid of the puzzles in this installment. So theres no subject 16 eagle vision on shit and solve the puzzles crap. In that regard the game is more strait forward, letting you just play the game to get the full story. That and you finally get to kill the shit out of people with Desmond also, and do some playing around in spots in the modern world scaling buildings and what have you.

I would agree, If you dont have a hankerin to see where the story goes, wait till the bargain bin, because yes it does end on a cliff hanger, and the cliff is huge (I'll put it this way, you do learn everything to want to learn about that "old civilization" whos artifacts you've been looking for throughout the games). I mean essentially it starts a brand new storyline, so the cliffhanger concludes the current story and starts another.

I don't think there will ever be an "end", just stories being concluded/started. The series is too lucrative. and at parts in the story they basically scream to you that there is going to be more adventures for Connor(the main character), ala brotherhood/revelations.

Something about George Washington getting an Apple of Eden, growing 12 feet tall fuckin killin for fun.

I got it for the PC and I just want to say this dear game makers when you port a game from console to PC, please update the GUI to better use a mouse. Also as I mentioned to TSD I think the whole Animus part of the story is unnecessary. Take out all that animus crap and have them just be assassin stories set in those particular times and the games will still stand on their own feet.

The companion assassins creed game for PS Vita is like that. The main character is this chick Assassin you recruit in AC3.

They are trying to be more "Epic" with the story. So you can see history and the present intertwine. The whole reason for the animus is finding out what your ancestors did with artifacts. If you remove the animus, how are they supposed to know? You would pretty much have to shit can the entire plot at that point. I think its too late for that, but yes there is nothing stopping them from releasing spin offs about assassins throughout history.

They ruin franchises? And milk them for all their worth pumping out as many sequels as fast as possible capitalizing on the popularity of the title while sacrificing quality so to get as much as they can until sales tank?

It is the exact reason I laughed when I seen they were (and since have) coming out with a new Ghost Recon. You know the franchise they drove into the fucking ground after buying Red Storm Entertainment. **** YOU UBISOFT IN YOUR FRENCH ASSES

Alright today we are kicking it old school. Tomb Raider. No not the remake coming out in December **** that game it will suck. Fucking action adventure game...

The original Tomb Raider was a puzzle solver/platformer. It is available on gog.com and now on steam (gog has the better deal). This game was great the graphics now are right up there with Minecraft but the game play is still awesome. Back when this came out very few had the internet so you had to figure crap out. It took forever but it was a blast. I got it off gog.com last night and I am amazed on how much I still remember first level just blew right through it. Fighting that T-Rex still remember the little cove you could use to **** him up. If you miss this genre just get the game again, it is still a blast.

I gotta say, NHL 13's skating engine is so realistic. There is a lot of things I like about the game, and it's definitely a step in the right direction... but I have to say... these goalies are unreal. Don't get me wrong, I don't lose often, so I don't care about that, but it get's kind of frustrating when you have 30 shots on net (a lot of quality ones), your opponent has 10 shots, and the game is 1-0 and you are losing. If my opponent picks Boston or LA, I know I'm fucked. The side to side movement is so unrealistic it's not even funny, I don't know how many one timers they have stopped, and breakaways seem like they are impossible to deke the goaltender so I literally just started shooting 5 hole and have gotten better results (not good, but I honestly don't think I've had a single goal with the goaltender biting on a deke, unless it's manually controlled, so any results are better than that).

Other than the goaltending, I think the game is pretty damn good. I like the fact that it's a lot harder to wind up for a one-timer and takes precision and good timing -- even just taking a slapshot, you can't just wind up with your back turned anymore or anything like that for shooting in general, you'll whiff the puck or completely miss the net if it's an awkward shooting position (wrist, backhand or slapshot). They also improved stick-checking greatly and that was an area that was sorely lacking in the previous couple games. The body checks really have taken into account the physics of the collision, combined with the hitting ability of the player so I think they did a great job there too. One thing I can complain about with the physicality of the game is that there can be collisions without even trying to hit anyone -- which is great and realistic but rarely do they call interference. In fact, I don't think I've seen any other calls other than tripping. Of course the skating engine is scary how accurate they are getting it to real life. It's harder to get use to, but so realistic that it's just amazing to play.

But seriously, they need to fix that shit with the goaltenders. I have played games where the shot chart shows all my shots are coming in the slot, off one timers and breakaways, some of the shots that come from the point are screens or looking for a rebound, and the goaltender stops all 30 of them. Yet, they'll have 10 shots all from the outside and one of them will go in. I get that goaltenders like Quick and Thomas are going to perform better than someone like Crawford, but when you are exploiting a team for poor defense I would think that the quality of the shots would eventually overwhelm the talent in net.

See every year they "improve" the goalie and they've finally gotten to the point where they are too good and too unrealistic. Now they need to turn the goalies down and improve the defensive AI. NHL13 is a good game I simply have no interest in. I like the direction the game went in, I think the new skating engine is good but I just have zero desire to play the game. I played it when it came out and pretty much haven't touched it since. I think I'm done with the NHL series until the next generation of the game. Again they have improved the game but this generation peaked for me in 09, 10 was another solid game, 11 and 12 were honestly piles of shit and 13 is a good game that I cant get interested in.

I get away with throwing picks in OTP all the time. I've never been called for it once as long as you don't hit the hit stick.
