Hahah good to know I can still play multiplayer alone, I'm weird like that... I guess my main problem with most multiplayers is that it's only good if you talk to the other people in the group and I always get stuck with the 12 year olds are the dumb fucks who don't have a mic. Can you get away with just adding random people who you don't have to talk to or care if they are 12?

Oh for sure. You can just join a random "lobby" as they are called. So you can say, look for Bronze games, Random Map, Random Enemy and it will search for a game. Or you can start your own lobby and make it public. I never play with a mic when playing with random people. While the game has lost a little steam in terms of numbers, I never have issues getting into lobbies. Sometimes it takes a few minutes.

For almost a decade starting in 1998 there was 8 billion WW2 shooters I would be fine if I never played another WW2 shooter in my life.

Both the Xbox 1 and PS4 have some great features. I do like the idea of games, tv and music as apps in the new xbox. Sounds like it will work as a cable box and you'll be able to switch easily between games and tv almost instantly.

Yeah I thought it was pretty kickass but here's my question will it work with DVRs? Or in my case the Dish Hopper/Joey setup

Here is what I wrote to my buddy on facebook... overall it was a neat idea, but I was underwhelmed by the presentation.

I like a lot of the features that they presented, but there is too much specific customization for them that I fear may get in the way. Like the ESPN integration with fantasy, they don't go into detail. What if you have a yahoo league, what if the game isn't on ESPN. Things like that. Same with the tv. Sure you can run your comcast but TV is about being a DVR now, I'm glad you can make recommendations and show me what's on but where are my shows, and how do I pause live tv. It's not a critique of the new Xbox itself but of all new technologies that come out. Like my phone you have this sweet app like Bump that lets you instantly share stuff, but only with people who have bump and pictures they share with you cant' be shared outside of it. It's kind of like a wall-in Apple model have to control everything under precise parameters in order to get it to work optimally. I just want to play games.

Seems they are spending big on acquiring big names for external IP other than games to tie it all together, it will be a make or break strategy. They may lose some gamers but pick up some more casual media center people. It took them 30 minutes to even get to the gaming part. This is not a gaming system anymore. Which doesn't mean it cant' play games, but it's focus is not to play games. It's a tv box.

That's what they should have called it TVbox. Xbox one sounds like a step back to me... not bad just a strange choice.

And then there is this:

Xbox One Is Not Always Online, But Seems To Restrict Used Games

Yeah the fantasy stuff to me is just fluff neat but meh. But the TV part yeah good questions. If they didn't solve those issues it is a rather useless feature IMHO

That does not give me warm fuzzies.

I dont play many different games and buy them but for people like my buddy who uses gamefly and such, more for all the single player games he plays... This is not a good thing.

What was wrong with the companies just making folks pay for an online play pass for the online aspects?

The head of PS4 has said flat out that the PS4 will not restrict resale games. If Xbox decides to that could hurt them pretty bad.

Well.. if you haven't read the recent article about EA shelving the online pass they found out it was received very poorly. Also, the online pass, I don't know how familiar you are with them, but in my experience wasn't just to play the online stuff (at least for EA) but it was to register the game to your online account. Meaning you couldn't really do much without getting online like updating rosters and such so if you didn't have the online pass there were a lot of things missing. That was for Madden though. I got the game new with my PS and wasn't going to register it because I didn't want an Origins account but ended up having to just to get features to use even though I didn't play online.

According to the Wired article, they already have decided to charge a fee to register a game on a separate system. I don't know how they are going to implement it but there it is.

Ya know, I used to look at my PS3 as the entertainment box and the Xbox as the gaming box. With everything I am reading from PS4, their message is back to gaming and Xbox is where the PS3 moved to this entertainment system...

Will I retire my Xbox and MS altogether now in favor of the PS4? With I buy both again? I dont care about the TV stuff and the like. I use Amazon Prime and Netflix, but on the PS3. I dont need or want it for Xbox...

I am now officially stressed out...
