Maybe I'll have to get the leviathan ending... but I'm a bit burnt out right now. I didn't like a lot of the gunbattle balance in the last game. It's was either I could whip through the enemies without breaking a sweat, or I would die 10 times in a row... no middle ground really of challenging fights that didn't want to make you turn it off....

I think I'll go play my free games now... XCOM probably, or maybe DuesEx, I started Sleeping Dogs, that seems pretty decent.

If you ever expect to playthrough again, I would argue Leviathan is crucial.

After i saw release ending, I vowed never to play again and that was with about 8 or so ME2 playthroughs. After my buddy played Leviathan, I went back and did a ME1 - ME3 playthrough.

I get the break! For me, there are VERY few games that keep my attention to the point of completion so it was very easy for me to have fun with ME playthroughs because there were no other games that I would play.

I am picky as hell when it comes to games.

I think my problem is that I'm a completionist so I ran through 1-3 all at the same time and each one too so much time because I had to do and buy and explore everything I could in each game I burnt myself out and don't really feel like going back and doing it again because there would be so much repetition.

I completely get it. For the ME series I was quite the completionist as well. What kept me doing ME2 playthroughs was 1. Because I love the gameplay and was the only game i wanted to complete on Insanity and 2. To have a diverse number of playthoughs to have the ME3 experience I wanted.

And you may never playthrough again, but I personally love so many of the fights that it kept me coming back. For ME2 I had the annoying surveying down to a science. In ME3, there wasnt any repetitive tasks and I pretty much had the important resources down so I wasnt exploring all that much. But even with that, I think I will be done with ME2 for a LONG time. I have a current playthrough on 3 with a melee only Sentinel, but certainly not active.

I still hate trying to run from an enemy or dive away and have it put you into a crouch and a barrier instead to have you shot in the back of the head.

Anyway, Started playing XCOM last night. I only knew general info about it but I have to say, it's much better than I thought it was going to be. I mean... much better. The tutorial isn't very indepth but it gives you enough to go on to figure out what to do from there. But it's hard to explain... they do a very good job of being very indepth detail wise, while making every detail simple if that makes sense. I can see why so many people praised it and it got GOTY consideration. And it's set up very very well for multiple playthroughs of completely different squads, games, tactics, ect... I haven't played much but I love it so far. Don't think I'll find time for Dues Ex, Saints Row III, or Sleeping Dogs any time soon.

I think what really helps me with this type of game is that they let you do basic customizations on the squad characters. Meaning I can make each member in my squad a person that I know. This really really helps me in this type of game because it allows me to remember, Joe is the sniper, Dave is the Shotgun.... ect... it speeds things up and give a more critical connection to the characters. Plus, when/if they die, it really makes it personal.

Cant speak for Dues Ex and Sleeping Dogs, but you can safely skip Saints Row 3 unless you are playing with a buddy.

Yeah, I'm only a few hours in, I'll let you know if it gets boring or repetitive. I will say that even at the beginning stages it's very stressful, not in a bad way... maybe more ... suspenseful. At any moment your perfect strategy can become flawed and you lose a team member permantaly. Someone you've build up through a few missions and equipped and invested in. I like that a lot. And you dont' just start over you have to plug another guy in. Which isn't bad because they way they do it, you can just stick with your main 4-5 guys the whole game. If they get injured on a mission they may not be healed in time for the next one. I like that. You can still to your main guys but you really have to substitute in a bunch of different people based on injuries and they also make it so you want to keep some of the less used guys in the rotation so that if someone does get injured you have a decent backup instead of some rookie. It's nice, and there are classes so you want to have your main guy or two in each class and then solid back ups that you take out every now and then for experience. If they aren't on the mission, they don't level up, it's a good system.

Where you would have squads of guys that all had unique stats and abilities based on weapons and squad type and you would lose like a Capt of a squad and they too are dead for good, and it would be like a kick in gut. Turn based as well.

One thing I don't like so far is that they have for equipment (and again I just started) basically only 3 slots to work with Armor, Weapon, Backpack. And only one item at a time in the backpack. Armor and weapons I get. You get one primary, one secondary weapon. And select your armor. But the backpack can apparently only hold one item. So if you want to take a med kit with you you can't take anything else with you. So you research this allow stuff and it's your backpack item somehow instead of being added to the armor. I hope it changes as the game goes on, and I get that it's a strategy thing but there are missions where they say you have to take this item to complete it which really means you have to equip it on enough of the people to hope to make it happen during the mission. Just strange. It's a backpack you should be able to hold multiple things.

I was massively excited for this game when it was announced I missed the boat on the originals but dug the concept so I read a lot of stuff about the game and basically it is similar to the originals but different but does pay a lot of homage to them. I never mentioned it to you because didnt think it was your genre

While we're on the topic. I can't tell if I'm going to like the new XCOM. it's like XCOM meets mass effect game play wise... Could be good depending on how smoothly it all works out.
