Wolfenstein sucks now. No multiplayer?

I was #1 on Wolfenstein for Xbox in 2003 for over a year.

Funny thing I was #1/250,000 that ever played in 4 years.... nowadays that's how many toddlers play Call of Duty per day.

I was #1 on Might and Magic Book One: The Secret of the Inner Sanctum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Might_and_Magic_Book_One:_The_Secret_of_the_Inner_Sanctum) for almost 2 years! 3rd person to complete the game too. Ahh the good o'le Apple ][ days.

Actually I am surprised that the New Wolfenstein is not multiplayer...even to some capacity..

I've been wanting to get The Last of Us for awhile. Now it's coming to PS4. Glad I waited. I'll be picking this up as soon as it comes out.

I know we talked about this before here so I'll put it here. I know 240 is still too small for most, but at 90 bucks after rebate I think this is a good sign of the price wars heating up

I believe the samsung 500 gig or whatever it is, was onsale for 250 a bunch recently... So I think we're goign to get to affordable pretty soon. Then... everything changes.

WOW, nice price. And yes, I think this is a good sign of price wars to come. Especially since a 1TB SSD are already out.

Concur on the cost!

However, I will say that having the PS4 for a bit now, the hybrid/SSD drive really isnt needed. While it would improve performance, it just doesnt feel like it is worth the cost.

Yeah sure, but that machine also hasn't reach near the potential they think it will, nor the bells and whistles. They are going to keep jamming more and more unneeded shit into it that's going to bog it down. That goes for both systems. Sooner or later these will be welcomed and cheap enough to make the switch.

Again I think it's because of the lessons learned from other games--If the single player is the focus, the multiplayer suffers (i.e. RTCW), if you focus on the multiplayer, the single player suffers.

I honestly think that the lessons learned form Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Enemy Territory were taken to heart by Bethesda.Return to Castle Wolfenstein, in its day, was awesome--it could have been even better if they didn't even bother with the crummy multiplayer. Meanwhile when Splash Damage used the engine to create Enemy Territory, they struck a goldmine...or at least they would have if they decided to completly finish the project and not relase it as freeware, since that took off massively.

I think the same hapens with W:TNO. As soon as the game comes out another team will take the game engine and focus specifrically on a multiplayer only--probably as an add-on or bonus content, if not a stand-alone product. But with they hype surrounding this if they tries to make it both Single and Multiplayer, something would suffer.

I always thought that the original Doom and Decent did an excellent job at single and multi-player....but then again the games have become farm more complex since then.

I know the original doom was like 4 players max and usually over a dialup. The complexity adds to it defintitely except I think it's the number of remote players--even on a server, that adds to the end-user compexity.

I do think that the case of TNO will be like that of RTCW/ET and Quake 4/ET-QW The single player comes out 1st, then they use the game engine to develop a multiplayer.

So here on the west coast Wolfenstein: TNO was officially released at 9:00pm last night (11 for you chicagoans). After a ginormous download, finally got to play it a bit on the PC--so when it comes to graphics and whatnot, expect a lesser performance on a console.

So far, controls are a lot like any other FPS that uses the quake 3 standard. The graphics are freaking amazing; was able to crank everything. Physics as well were amazing; when you're swimming your movement is like you're actually swimming. as you run out of air, your vision becomes tunneled and fades to black and white.

I wasn't able to get far into it (still in 1946 and the "tutorial" mode), but I like how they did it so far. Am looking forward to going deeper into the game.

The best part IMHO comes from needing to invole my wife (which she likes to watch/be involved with so far). When you die, the reloading last checkpoint screen has a message in german from Deathshead. My german is virtually nil. She's fluent so it's intresting the messages that they have.

Anyhow, I think it was worth the money at first glance and I personally would recommend it.
