So here on the west coast Wolfenstein: TNO was officially released at 9:00pm last night (11 for you chicagoans). After a ginormous download, finally got to play it a bit on the PC--so when it comes to graphics and whatnot, expect a lesser performance on a console.

So far, controls are a lot like any other FPS that uses the quake 3 standard. The graphics are freaking amazing; was able to crank everything. Physics as well were amazing; when you're swimming your movement is like you're actually swimming. as you run out of air, your vision becomes tunneled and fades to black and white.

I wasn't able to get far into it (still in 1946 and the "tutorial" mode), but I like how they did it so far. Am looking forward to going deeper into the game.

The best part IMHO comes from needing to invole my wife (which she likes to watch/be involved with so far). When you die, the reloading last checkpoint screen has a message in german from Deathshead. My german is virtually nil. She's fluent so it's intresting the messages that they have.

Anyhow, I think it was worth the money at first glance and I personally would recommend it.

Right on! I was actually gonna skip it and wait for Watch Dogs. Keep us in the loop!

Have you found the easter egg yet where you can play a level of Return to Castle Wolfenstein?

Intresting you mention Watch Dogs. I recently upgraded my venerable AMD 5700 to a Geforce 760. I got Watchdogs for free as part of a promotion for buying that card. It looks interesting and can't wait for it to be released.

Nope. I'm barely into it. From what I gather about the story it's supposed to take place in the early 1960's. I'm in 1946 still--which appears to be the "tutorial" level.

Watch Dogs: Candidly, if it wasnt Chicago I would have less interest as it is really just an open world sandbox game and using geek skills as the mechanism to make gameplay.

But like with Fallout, they were spot on with DC area and I am stoked to see the Chicago and see how accurate.

My enthusiasm for the game is different. The last "bundled" game I got before Watchdogs was Splinter Cell 1 (you can see how long ago that was), and I literally waited a year before one night I was bored and installed it for lack of anything else better to do. I fell in love with the game and have been kicking myself in the ass for not installing it sooner and getting more into the franchise. Thus I'd like to give it a fair shake and so far it looks like a good game.

I would like to see how faithfully they reproduced Chicago, though.

Really good article on Oculus Rift. Didn't know much about it aside from the fact that it was another vr set trying to make it. Sounds like this one has a good chance of making something more than worthwhile. Can't wait to see the finished product. I think they need to add some ant+ or bluetooth 4.0 on there and use heart rate monitors in some of the games.

Oops, forgot to post the link.

http://www.wired.com/2014/05/oculus-rift-4#slide-id-914241

Honestly, when I saw news of the Oculus Rift I thought ok, great. Another virtual reality failure waiting to happen. Then I read this and it sounds pretty damn promising.

As for the Heart rate stuff, that was just me thinking it would be a cool way to put an extra level of immersion into some games. Maybe it would gimmicky, but I could see playing a spy game or interrogation style game where that would be cool to add. I'm picturing the game Spy Party played with that. If you're not familiar with Spy Party, it's still a work in progress and may never see the light of day, but the concept is awesome.

So you are serious? You hadn't heard of Oculus Rift before? Even when Facebook just bought it for 2 bln? And even now as ZeniMax is sueing Oculus because they say the John Carmack who left Id to join Oculus took tech secrets with him for use in Oculus, even though they don't do VR? It was quite possibly the first real big successful Kickstarter. And has been at the top of the VR foodchain for a couple of years now...That Oculus Rift?

Lol. I had heard of it. I had heard when Facebook bought it but I never paid much attention. I hadn't heard why it was so special compared to all the other virtual reality headsets tried before.

So, started playing watchdogs and only finished the 1st mission last night.

Initial thoughts: Controls need to be a bit smoother--it looks like they just designed it for controller use and didn't allow for Keyboard/Mouse except as an afterthought. The mouse almost automatically smooths and you can't turn it off.Controls are a bit wierd but after awhile got the hang of it. Graphics are great, physics are great, and so far looks promising story-wise.

However, between it and Wolfenstein; TNO and Watchdogs, I'll give the nod to Wolfenstein as the better game overall. A bit better graphics, better physics, way better and more intuitive control, it immerses you a lot better.

Plus, for the perverts out there it does have fuckscenes. Haven't seen much except for side-boob but some will either find it distracting or eye-candy.

I've been hearing people aren't happy about the Watch Dogs PC version for some of the reason you mention. Basically saying it's a poor port from Console

I've heard console guys not too happy with the game too. They were comparing it to GTA5 and said it wasn't nearly as good and that the driving mechanics suck.

No Man's Sky looks pretty amazing. Graphically it's nothing spectacular, but then you consider the entire game is procedurally generated it's pretty impressive. I hope it ends up being as good as it sounds.

Yeah, I'm actually kind of excited about the game. I love that it is as much about exploring and growing the game universe as it is about shooting and trading ect. I think it's a great idea to have a game physically create things as people are finding them.

South Park Stick Of Truth is entertaining the hell out of me. In so much that I can't play more than a couple hours at a time because I am laughing too hard. Big time win...brilliance.
