My favorite teams
.745 vs .723
that isnt significant.
Twenty-two points, it's a pretty significant difference for a stat with a 95% correlation to runs

that isnt significant.
Last time I check doubles, triples, and HR are part of OBP. Not just walks.
And outs are part of SLG as they are for OBP.
What's your point?
We have no idea what Castro would do in big games cause he never been on a winning team lol
Furcal been on WS teams cause he been on good teams.
Lol, your point is that Furcal has a World Series ring and that Castro would screw up in big games because he doesn't... Laughable stuff in chat
We are talking about how good the player is and All-Star credentials here... Not how he is young and lacked experience in big games when he is more deserving to be given a chance in this game than the starter is.Here's the thing:
I like Castro and I think he's really good and I think he'll be a big part of the future for the Cubs. There's no doubt about that. But he's raw. And teams that want to win won't choose a raw player.
In 3 years maybe I'd take Castro over a lot of SS out there. Castro still has a lot to improve on. He needs to be a better fielder, he needs to mature, and he needs to be a lot more patient at the plate. He's raw and needs work. That's why teams won't take him.
And there's one thing that the bad OBP does tell teams that turns them off. It means he doesn't have patience at the plate if he doesn't draw walks. That means he's swinging a lot and sometimes he won't make contact with the ball. GMs want guys who are mature hitters if they're going to add someone to their team.
who would you want on a WS team? castro or Furcal/Reyes? Right now, who would you want?

Actually I believe that Rice stated that Furcal "isn't even a better defender than him"... There is one aspect Furcal is greater than Castro in, OBP, but Castro has an OPS twenty-plus points higher. A .377 SLG is as pathetic as a .317 or whatever Castro has OBP.
And now you say it's close? I thought you said we were homers for taking Castro over Furcal as if it was a huge difference?
Well in chat we were talking about which player a contender would rather have. And that's what my post refers to. A GM that is looking to be a contender that needs a SS would take Furcal over Castro all day.
Just sit back and consider how you would feel about this if Castro played for the Mets or whoever the "big name" in the NL is as far as All-Star votes.
And it's laughable that Cubs fans think they have it bad when it comes to ASG voting. Sox get jobbed because the yankees and boston players get in no matter how they're playing.
They both get "jobbed" just as the NL does with Philly and St. Louis every year
i mean, what do you expect from fan voting, that players with actual better stats will comprise most of the starters, or the more well-known players on front-running teams?
Right. Since Philly won't have that many this year and whoever St. Louis has will most likely be deserved.
The Yankees and Red Sox have players that aren't even close to the best at their position that get voted in. So many more big names getting in for the AL compared to the NL just because they're the big names.
You think that Castro should be the starting SS? Well Konerko should easily be the starting 1B and the guy ahead of him has worse stats in basically everything.
Stop thinking there is some kind of bias against you. Get the **** over it.
I realize that you have to reach to find something to talk about when your team loses all the time, but really.
Exactly. Sox fans have gotten over it and used to it. Cubs fans should do the same.
No, Castro shouldn't be starter, Lowrie and Desmond are better
