My favorite teams
 1. Portland Timbers
 1. Chicago Blackhawks
PMX: The only difference between Keith and McSorely was that Keith was a one-hander and McSorely's was a two-hander. Intent, self-defense, how much Carter deserved it, and apologies notwithstanding, he took a whack towards Carter's head like it was a teeball. No matter how you slice it, it hurt the team and it's not the type of penalty you expect someone of Keith's caliber to take or even put himself in a position to take. If you're going to swing your stick like that, keep it low.

Or John Scott...

It'll probably be pairings of -

Hjall-Seab

Oduya-Roszy

Leddy-Brook

If the Hawks can beat VAN in the playoffs with Scott in for Seabrook....they can win giving Keith the break. While Keith has been hands down the best Dman for the Hawks all playoffs...depth gets tested from time to time. The Hawks won with him out for 5 last year as well.

This is the NHL's chance to keep LA in the series no doubt...and to feed Keith to the wolves...since Bolland didn't get suspended.

Speaking of Bolly....it would be nice for Mr.Playoff to get on the scoreboard. He has 2g in his last 32gms (the 2g game was vs DET in the 7-1 win back in March)

And Stalberg - 0g in last 18gms (3g last 39gms)

Which his intentions were to keep it low...hence him going right up to apologize

He swung it carelessly with one hand - which is why he wasn't in control of it...not with the intent to hit in the head/face. Both were jousting with the sticks...happens all the time. He just didn't have control of his stick. 4min penalty was correct - suspension wouldn't be.

Carter was back on the ice shortly after the incident. Bet he didn't 4:00 minutes of shifts.

True, but I am so tired of people ignoring what led up to it. This is not like Bertuzzi on Moore for instance, which was an horrible event based in months of back and forth between several players on both teams.

This is one dirty player hacking and whacking at a guy when the play is long gone and that guy not taking his shit, with an admittedly horrible action that cause injury.

Why did the official standing ten feet behind Keith and Carter not call any number of the infractions Carter was committing and when are those douchebags going to accept some responsibility? Retaliations happen because the refs missed or turned a blind eye to previous infractions.

It's definitely not a one way street but you still have to know better than to do that. Everyone should know by now, a lot of the times the retaliation is called, not the original penalty. Or sometimes both. Not saying it's right, because it's horrible and is in desperate need of changing, but that's not happening tomorrow (if ever) so you have to know by now not to do something stupid. You only ever have something to lose, you gain nothing.

Much like Toews (the king of self control) showed us, you can only take so much abuse before you snap. It is the refs job to call infractions and ensure that players are not taking liberties with other players. They are every bit 'Playground Monitor' as they are 'puck dropper' and 'goal pointer outer'.

"goal pointer outer" is the coolest part of the job!, though, linesmen are actually the "puck droppers." :eek:rcs-buttshake:

Definitely not disagreeing that they need to do that. Seeing as they haven't been since practically forever, the Hawks have to know to be careful. That's not how the Hawks play anyways, those little bullshit jabs and slashes. Like, what was Sharp doing trying to fight? What's the point of that? That's the kind of stuff that worries me. Getting that out of focus and doing stupid shit like that.

Fighting isn't always stupid shit, contrary to belief

Williams is a similar/top line player for them. Both players are battling for "ice" postion.

What should Sharp do? Step back and give Williams the edge/space/room he wants?

Not try to start a fight and get a penalty?

There's a difference between trying to battle for position and blatantly crosschecking a guy across the back and then wanting to fight.

Asked and answered. I miss THAT Sharp. I wish THAT Sharp showed up more nights. I don't mind him sitting in the box if he was allowed to handle HIS business when it came up. The fact that the troll refs broke up a fist fight before it became a fist fight and then were considering giving out fighting majors is a goddamn pox mark on the league right now. Fighting use to be allowed to keep other players from hacking and whacking. Now all you have is shitty refs ignoring shenanigans until two guys drop the gloves then rushing in to send them both off for sissy-slap-fighting.

So you missed the big whack from Williams on Sharp's foot? Because that is what happened.

Next time Sharp should just raise his hand...ask the referees to please come over and ask Justin to stay on his side.

If that doesn't work, maybe Patrick can go home and ask his parents to write a letter to the NHL...saying it wasn't fair that WIlliams went on HIS side of the faceoff area.

Funny it was called out by the announcers and he still missed it. You just can't make that shit up.
