What are things you hate about Chicago?

So, I'm on the metra going downtown and I go through Chicago and some of the surrounding suburbs like Elmwood Park and think

In Spokane (where I currently live): I hate the fucking city's snow plowing plan. For a city that gets dumps of 1-2' every year on multiple occasion, it seems like they are surprised every single winter. Starting in December, they just start putting the snow into the middle of any 3 lane roadway which makes navigation nearly impossible. I am glad I am in an unincorporated area with a privately contracted plow dude because it usually takes 4-5 days before they even start to hit residential streets.

In Chicago: I will admit I am a casual Notre Dame fan...but I absolutely loathe the never been to ND but am a diehard ND fan that will defend them to the death because proximity, being Catholic, and your great great grandmother being half Irish. I don't really get being too tied into any college sports unless you are an alumnus actually...

Yup poverty stricken indeed. In 2012, Mississippi was the poorest state in the country with an average household income of $37,095. Unreal.

I don't live in Mississippi, but I've had to spend the last few years in a southern city with similar conditions. The average individual income is 25k and average household income is 35k. 40% of the population lives below the poverty line. The place also has a murder rate that's higher than Chicago's.

Needless to say, I'll be moving as soon as I can, and I'm 90% sure I'll be moving back to Chicago.

A lot of the complaints about Chicago can be limited by actually living in the city and not driving. One of the main things I hate about where I currently live is that walking or taking public transportation isn't an option. When I was in Chicago, I liked taking the CTA, because I could sit there and read for 15 to 20 minutes. That's way better than sitting in a car in traffic or having to worry about hitting a cyclist or having to worry about interstate construction. I know it's not for everyone, but I thoroughly enjoyed not having a car.

Also, the weather down here is unbearable. I'll take the cold winter over the hot/humid summer. And almost every store and restaurant is a national chain. These idiots shop there, and then they wonder why there are no jobs in the area.

I agree with most stuff posted, but the bigger is the shootings. I'm in southwest Michigan for work during the next 5 months. I'm sick of people living in and around Detroit comparing Chicago to Detroit.
