What does a successful rookie year look like for Caleb Williams?

My standards are a bit different but him not being caught covered in coconut oil with a pair of jumper cables latched onto his pierced nipples would make for a very successful rookie campaign

Imo
So failure?

Forget the rookie year, Mr. PiB. Williams will perform better than Fields did in 2023, his third year . . .

Williams will have far better teammates around him (both offense and defense).

When Polez took over it was house cleaning in year 1. Also didn't help Arob was Fields #1 target, lol. Arob and Mooney #barf

LOL Arob actually played all 17 games for steelers and finished with 34catches, 280yds and no touchdowns, hah

Robinson was not only declining but being phased out of the offense by his own HC, this organization is insane

Playoffs. Don’t care about the stats themselves. Win, make the playoffs.
you're right in the long run...the only stat that really matters is making the playoffs and winning the SB......but something has to propel the team there....

Rookie year you would hope the QB would have 3,000 passing yards or more if starting a full 17 games. But this a rookie year, not that much can be made out of it as most rookies struggle their first year. Its in/after year 3 when their true ability is known.

We had a QB start 17 games since Cutler

I'd hope for more and still expect 3k yds, close to a 2-1 TD to INT ratio, over 20 TDs etc. Basically, better than what Fields has done so far but partially because of an improved line and catchers. I actually want him to test boundaries early in the year to be able to get up to speed more quickly.

Pretty sure Cutler didn't even do it (start 16).

The constant injury issues at quarterback really need to be understood by this franchise. It's not normal and needs to be addressed . . .

3,000 yards for 17 games or 176 passing yards per game. Fields style of play is one reason for that but 16 games is what it used to be for a full season, not 17.

Could you imagine the # of extra penalty yards if Fields got calls like the rest of the nfl qb's?

It's laughable Fields only got 1 roughing passer call all year, lol

Some on here are willing/wanting to stick with Fields based on how much he progressed as a passer, even though that statistical progress was in most cases incrimental like his completion percentage leaping from 60.4% to 61.4% and QB Rating jumping from 85.2 to 86.3 from 2022 to 2023.

Using that formula for "success" I'd say that a successful rookie year for Caleb Williams would be:

Completion % - 62.4%
QB Rating - 87.4
Passing Yards - 2564
TDs - 17
Team Record - 8-9

Leaping? Jumping? More like tripping and accidentally falling forward a few inches . . .
