Why trade now for a lesser draft pick? Poles will send Fields to a place where he can compete for a starting job, but get maximum value for him.

This is a business too. I’m glad Poles isn’t Pace. Pace would’ve traded him for a ham sandwich. I believe Rosen’s draft compensation is fair.

I don’t want a 3rd and 4th. I want at least this years 2nd and incentive draft pick next year.

Does anyone think it's possible that Poles has no interest in trading Fields?
I mean obviously if the return is insane which I don't think is possible. If he can't get a minimum 2nd then hopefully it's completely off the table.

I think that's not what he's going for at all. And everyone in and around the combine is saying the same thing. He is not continuing on with a quarterback he didn't select

Depends if Poles wants to be a man of his word or not...

Would you appreciate your boss you publically promised you a raise and then went back on his word and claimed hey shit changes...

Its ok, as a fan, to roll over player who don't want on your team, but some people prefer to be men of their words...especially a GM that has to negotiate and sign players in a very small league.
It’s business. I know business. He said he would like to do right by Justin. He didn’t say it was going to happen.

Company I worked for just laid me off. Gave me a great severance package and my bonus. They told me I’d never be let go because I was a great worker. 9 years later, that happens.

It’s a business move. There shit changed. They ain’t going to pay me my salary to just stand there with no projects going in my region.

And I told them I fully understand. It’s a business move. It’s how shit works. Common sense. Didn’t feel unappreciated at all.

Most people here think Williams is a foregone conclusion...

Williams could absolutley be the pick, and if the Bears choose a QB at 1 it should probably be him...

I get the sense Poles could absolutely trade out at this point

I'd say 70% he takes CW @1, 25% he rolls with Fields and drafts a QB later, and 5% he takes another qb @1

Did he actually promise something? I don’t get this go back on his word stuff?
They said he'd do right by Justin Fields and move as quickly as possible.

While you could technically say that could be a year from now...

The sense based on the discussion was during freeagency....

Most QBs will probably have a contract in place during the legal tampering period, so that would seem about a week.

Anything longer than that is drawing it out.

all depends on the trade offers and what they value Williams or the othe top 1 or 2 QBs or MHj

I don't know how they are valuing them. That is the mystery.

Baker stays in TB
Cousins stays in Minnesota
Russell to Pittsburgh

Fields to Atlanta.

Honestly, thinking about it more, this is probably the best outcome for both Fields and the Bears. The big one is for Cousins to stay in Minnesota. I really hope that happens both because it leaves Atlanta open for a trade and because Cousins will forever keep Minnesota irrelevant.

Kind of where I am. One of those situations where Poles is looking at ALL options and then reacting accordingly. Could very well be that Poles wouldn't even deal for a second round pick. None of us know where his bar is or what the offers look like.

And I’m sure Poles is. Yall are acting like he gave a promise to trade him by a certain date.

no, but drawing past near the beginning of free agency would seem to be drawing it out too far...the FA QB carosel will be over by that point.

I'm not sure cutting off his own hands is the correct analogy...taking a slighly lesser draft pick to keep his word is more accurate yes....

On a side note, its interesting to see how many people have no problem going back on their word to suit their own situation....
It’s a business he isn’t going to take a L to keep his word

You’re the one talking about his “word”.

And there’s still an entire week before free agency. The lack of patience is astounding 😂

Yes he would.

I wouldn't lie to my client just to squeeze out some extra money.....I have to continue to do business.

Besides if they are moving on with Williams that would be the W, not whatever you could squeeze out from a Fields trade.

I've already stated that there is still time...I have not said anything different...
