Maybe because having Fields this year for $6 mil, trying him out with a new OC, having the option of letting the rookie QB sit, and having a good backup QB is worth more than a 2nd Rd pick?

Plus, Poles said he'll have to interview 30 people on C. Williams alone. He's got time to do his homework.

I guess if his top priority was to trade Fields, maybe it'd already be done... so...
This is what I'm hoping for

The leak was let go...

Literally right after Gabriel announced the Bears were keeping Fields, Stein got fired and Gabriel locked down his twitter...

Just recently Gabriel now stating they could trade both....

Just fucking strange.
I mean, when Stein was here, we would get leaks. Now that he’s not here, no leaks… 🤔

Could the Bears draft quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and keep Justin Fields on the roster? It seems extremely unlikely, but according to NFL insider Adam Schefter the team has at least considered it.

“Will they get to that? It’s hard to imagine that,” Schefter said on ESPN on Sunday. “But that is a conversation that has come up within the organization.”

It sucks there doesn't seem to be much value for Fields, and understandable, but getting a 2nd would've been fantastic. Worst thing they can do though is keep fields

1. He hasn’t reached his ceiling. Wishful thinking and the thought of every fan since the beginning of time

2. He’s insanely fun to watch. Who fucking cares? It’s about wins and losses.

3. He’s super likable. Really, lol?

4. The Bears did him dirty. lol this shit again? Many improvements were made in 2023.

None of this is directed at you, @Brownie . Just the tweet in general.

Why do you say that?

Like... you mean if the Bears had Fields as a backup for 6 mil, and no team wanted him, you'd just cut him?

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bears
Any thoughts?
If Poles is definitely trading him like so many here are guaranteeing. Then why hasn't it happened yet?
I still think it'll probably happen, but it makes me think he's also getting offers for #1 and hasn't yet decided.
Or it's all been one big smoke screen and he was never going to trade Justin Fields for the first place - he just has to make it look like he is to maximize the value of the number one overall pick to get the most back.

How does it maximize the #1 trade value to make people think the #1 isn't up for trade?
You want as many as possible thinking they have a shot at the #1 interviewing the QBs to get with the #1 at the combine.

Playing cards close to the chest only works when you don't have the #1 pick.
If anything Poles has hurt the value of either situation playing it like he has. As far as we know at least.

I dont understand why keeping Fields is the worst thing they could do. You don't even think he'd make a good back up?

It does say "if you're going to make an offer for #1 it had better be big"

You can get something for him. You don't want to cause anything that could bring a divided locker room.
