So the overall impression I get is that most of you responding in here support Wikileaks and those involved?

Really?

You trust a nut job who wishes the U.S.A ill will to be completely honest in releasing classified information?

How do you know what they choose to release? In other words you support his ability to create his own confidential

material and release what he sees fit?

Knowing that Micheal Moore donated $20,000 to his release spoke volumes to me.

Perhaps I came off as supporting, but I do not. What has been released is not information that shocks and awe's me as most of it fits with the rhetoric and posturing shown in the news and such, so I see nothing that has been released that is super secret IMO. But that does not mean I am supportive of the site.

I really do wonder what the rest of the information holds in the way of super sensitive secret stuff. Not that I want to know if he has any, but whether he actually does. Each wave of released information was supposed to be shock and awe, but does not seem so to me....on the other side of the token I wonder if he is just trying to blackmail governments on the information he has or the premise of such. Seems way to showboat-ish to not think that he has played his cards and not bluffing at this point.

But who knows.

I don't think many support him. But on the same hand when do we stop playing God?

Find out who leaked the information would be the better route. Not the guy WHO'S NOT AN AMERICAN CITIZEN. The US has no right to do anything to him. He's not a Citizen and he's not IN THE US.

Technically yes we can, he is in possesion of US Property. "Possesion of stolen Property" pretty sure that is against the law.

I guess I'm more indifferent. Like someone else mentioned, these releases don't really surprise me, what interests me is the people's reaction to the person leaking these various crimes and the criminals who committed them and it being overshadowed by the person giving out the information in the first place. Like, we don't care about what is being disclosed, just bring that ****** down!! It's amusing to me.

I'm right there with you. That's the source committing TREASON. Let's nail the messenger, not the one who carried the message.

Our Glorious Government is so fucked up they can't even keep their SECRETS, SECRET. Other Governments are now not sharing information with us. Isn't that special.

But again lets go after the guy that had nothing to do with it other than spreading the news. YUP! CNN Says SO!

So you can arrest him for a misdemeanor. Awesome.

I'm pretty sure ever Country will extradite someone for "stolen property".

They'll get right on that.

Oh the problems all of this has caused. thank god I am retired/retiring. The funny part is, in the grand scheme of things, this is really a small dent in th eoverall infrastructure of Military intel.

But even the source being a U.S citizen and I guess, technically, being a "traitor", I don't see how what he is disclosing, the crimes of the super elite, the people who WE trust to put OUR intentions first, that people are not rising to the reaction to the tune of "HOLY SHIT BALLZ, WE GOTTA GET THESE ******* OUT OF OFFICE, ARRESTED, INVESTIGATED, etc, etc,,," but instead it's "TAKE THAT TRAITOR OUT! WE CAN'T KNOW THE CRIMES OF THE PEOPLE WE PUT IN OFFICE!"

Amusing.

You get my point though, yes, he is a small part of it, he's still part of it. What ends up happening is he gets himself made person non-grata in many countries, which seriously limits where he can go vacation.

You're talking the State Department docs, have they named the person that leaked that stuff yet?

Not really for it either. Not against it either. Should the government step in and shut em down? No. They should carry themselves and act like they want to be seen.

I haven't been blown away by anything wkileaks has thrown out there. I find it telling that there were some documents from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and other Muslim nations asking the US for help and to step in against Iran. See Muslim extremists? Your own nations wants us there.

I don't really know but, and maybe it's just me, I would think we'd be more worried about the vast network of corruption and crimes being outed and revealed here that previously could only be speculated on rather than the guy who did the "traitorous" act of disclosing that information. It's like we're saying "Lets not worry about all that disturbing shit, let's go after this ONE GUY (or group). He's the real problem." I just...I don't get that kind of thinking. It seems like we are willingly distracting ourselves from the raging gorilla in the room.

You can't justify what this 23 year old ADULT did by using examples of the US being present in other countries. He revealed information to Wikileaks and the world that was not his to disclose. Supposedly Assange has a doomsday package of even worse stuff to come. This is not good. Have some American pride people.

Let me clarify Kerfluff, I cant change your opinion on what should happen to that kid, I accept that. Let me get this strait I dont support wikileaks, on the same token I find the information they leaked LAUGHABLE. I just dont understand why people are so bent out of shape, none of this information is surprising.

Wikileaks said the recent string of intel would be "WORLD CHANGING" give me a break, a day that shook the world for some, thursday for me. That doomsday file is probably shows you what obama likes on his subway sandwich.

Nothing Ive seen is really bad with the exception of mentioning names, which is the only thing I have a problem with. The rest is ridiculous, and tantamount to a geopolitical Star Magazine. Big fuckin deal.

Just curious if peoples minds would be changed if there was information in the leaks that the U.S., including George W. Bush new full well the 9/11 attacks were coming and let them happen on purpose? Would you still not want that information leaked?

I think that depends on who you are. I would like to know that, were it the case. But most people want to stick their head in the sand and think organizations within the US government are just all about truth, justice and the american way.

The CIA supported Pinnochet's military junta that overthrew Allende's DEMOCRATIC government in chile. Primarily because Allende was nationalizing some copper mines that were currently under the control of some american companies. So the US government helped destory democracy there, not spread it.

Its not the first time, it wasnt and wont be the last time we dont practice what we preach. and this tid bit is freely available on the CIA's website, although some of the history is sugar coated, by saying: "the CIA had reservations about doing this this and that...." but they did it anyway, amiright? Pinnochet went on to slaughter a bunch of people protesting his dictatorship, some of which were spanish nationals of which they still are pissed at the US for.

But this should all be covered up right? so we dont "look bad".

and I knew about this specific instance among others, before I entered service in the US Army, I accept that our government does so lowly things in selfish interest. It is the way it must be, if it isnt us it will be another nation doing the same shit getting a leg up. In essence a dog eat dog world.

It disgusts me though when people blind themselves to the reality of the world and really think deep down in the bowels of US foreign interest, we are all about "good". Nations are generally like people, weve all done things wrong to serve our own interest, and probably will again and again, I mean not overthrowing a democratic government, but those are the small transgressions of a nation state.

Now we are playing the "what if" game? Oi Vey

There are elements of secrecy that the general public does not and should not know. We live in a world where the colors bleed into each other and

there is not always the concise answer that will make everyone pleased. On the other hand, there needs to be an element of trust in our government

in order for all of us to turn a blind eye to certain actions knowing that it is the greater good of all. Our government trust level is appearing to diminish

each year and it is part of the rush to see these documents. It is an evil path we are headed and one man having access to it and the ability to release

what he wants and when he wants to is extremely scary to me. Seeing the people that are supporting him is also enlightening and shows those that

do wish ill against our great nation and that is just as treasonous. This is not a political bias issue yet those who have a clear political objective and

support him is disgusting to me.
